Same problem here on my MacBookPro-firefox, for quite a while now with blogs and sometimes on ST-mb.
I usually move on to another blog and try again 2 or 3 more times and then ST blogs open.

When mb is slow, I just leave site.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I was wondering if there is an update regarding the Firefox problem. I downloaded the newer version hoping that would help but it did not. Instead my trying to open Slow Travel blogs and post comments woes continue. I sometimes have to try 6 or 7 times to get a blog to open. Strangely though on other occasions the blogs open immediately. It seems as if something is getting hung up much of the time because if the page is not going to open right away, it will never open. At the bottom, it says "waiting for www.slowtrav.com...". (this is not supposed to be a link but it turns into one when I post)

I rarely can post a comment without having to stop and try to post it again over and over and over. When I just wait to let it load, it will eventually go to a page that says "network timeout". At the top is says page load error. If I am not paying attention when this happens and I don't immediately click back to the previous page, I lose the comments I wrote. This is very frustrating.

It also happens when I click on a recent post link, when I try to submit something (save) when writing a blog post, when I try to publish, and when I try to then edit my post. This does not happen when opening blogs that are not Slow Travel blogs.

Hoping this problem is solved soon as many of us use Firefox. Thanks!!

I asked Charisse this question on Friday during our conference call because Nate said back in the beginning of June it would be about 4 - 6 weeks before they move the databases....I'm waiting for an answer.

Just wanted to give another update. They are moving the databases but now fear that this problem isn't related to that. It seems to be happen on other IB sites, and so they are now looking at the firewall on their servers as the culprit. Not sure if the other bloggers noticed, but Nate has been leaving comments on my blog this week (trying to convince me of the merits of Russian authors Wink). Anyway, don't be surprised if you see some comments from the tech guys come your way.

Thanks for the update Kim. That must be the reason many of us are also having trouble with some of the Slow Travel links also. At first I thought you meant Russian comments and wondered if that was the spam I was getting. Big Grin

Okay people, Nate has informed me that they've made some adjustments to the IB firewall, hoping to correct the Firefox problem. So, if anyone is viewing the blogs through Firefox, could you post anything unusual here (or if it seems better post that too).

When you post, also note what version of Firefox you're using, and I guess your OS would be helpful too.

Thanks!

I just went through all the blogs (and commented on many - you all are great), and had no problems with firefox, so let me know how it goes for the rest of you.

I took a quick look and it looks like things are working fine. I can look at the blogs and I can even look at reviews! What a nice change after all these months.

This morning I looked a little deeper, page 2 of blog entries for instance, and it's still quite slow, although at least the pages do eventually display now.

So far so good. Chicken Dance Yippeeeee!!

I am not having any problems with opening blogs, going to second pages, and leaving comments. I have not tried to post anything new yet and will report back again if anything changes.

I noticed a change a day or two ago (before you posted the update). I figured it must have just been luck that everything was opening so fast and there was no wait when posting comments since there was no update yet that anything was changed.

It is so nice to not have to wait and watch that ball spin! I am using a Mac (Power PC G4), Tiger (10.4) and Firefox 3.0.1. I brought my work PC home and will give it a try later on and report back again.

I think the problem is solved. I have not had one problem yet (knock in wood). I have used my work PC laptop off and on today. I am using windows ? (the one before Vista) and Firefox 3.0.

I checked out many of the Slow Travel blogs today and they have all loaded quickly. I have not had problems getting to other pages and leaving comments, except now I can't change what I write after clicking "post" (before the fix, I had plenty of time to catch any spelling errors, etc. while I waited and waited). Not a bad thing, just something I wasn't ready for the first time I realized I forgot to add something to a comment I wrote.

I also have not had any problems posting a new post on my blog and even rebuilding the blog is faster! Wow, what will I do with all this extra time? Again, thanks for not giving up and getting this problem fixed.
I have never used the chicken dance before, but this is worth a second one! Chicken Dance

It has been fine for me also. I've been posting new blog entries, commenting on slow travel blogs and reading through the vacation rental reviews for France. It is much better than it was earlier this week. All of these would frequently hang.
