Is it just me or is the Italy board less active?
I seem to remember that more than one page of new topics was common. For me I have been less active as there is less to respond to, what gives? RR

It's August. The level of activity was the same in past Augusts too. It will grow back to normal in mid-september.

Funny, I was thinking the same but I didn't want to insult Alice Big Grin.

Robert, it's summer and I think there are a lot of people traveling, here and abroad. Kids are out of school, and some of us (sigh) must travel on the crowded summer plan. I noticed what you did back in mid-June.

I am not sure what I did myself. I wasn't traveling this June. RR

Sorry, Robert, that was vague, I meant that I noticed back in June what you mentioned above, that traffic was light on this board. Still think it's a summer thing.

As Alice says, this is the same every year. We are very busy January - May when people are trip planning. It slows over the summer when people are traveling or just out enjoying summer. It picks up again in September when people are back from their trips. November and December are slow because people are doing the holiday things.

But when things seems slow, it is a good time to start a fun thread. I am currently adding up how many weeks we have spent in vacation rentals in Europe (for a journalist writing an article) - maybe we can all do that for fun. I will start a thread.

plus it's hot out, making it harder to push the right buttons on the computer. Or is that just an upper middle aged woman's thing that I am experiencing?

I suppose that for us Europeans, it may be "how many weeks etc. in non European rentals". Mine would be two. Frown

The odd thing is that there are just as many people on the boards now just fewer posts. I spotted 150 on a short while ago. RR

Many of those are guests or lurkers. This happens every year. Also, maybe many people just don'ìt have a lot to say, or they read the board but have other things to do (kids home from school, relatives visiting, etc.).

As Pauline wrote, this is a great time to start a fun thread. I nominate you to think up a good one (can't use bidets or toilets though!) instead of questioning why it seems slower to you Wink .

Usually our ONLINE NOW numbers jump up by now - but they are still low (usually 80 or so people online). We have a different way of seeing who is online from the admin section, and it shows over 120 people online now.

So maybe the ONLINE NOW feature is not working - I will look into it.

OMG Diana! If you are "an upper middle aged woman", I am ANCIENT. Remember, 50 is the new 35, and 70 is still "middle".

And just this morning, Sheena said I was "still a young chickie"! Chicken

Jerry - be nice to your "younger" sister, or Mother Judy is going to have to separate you!

Judy - that brought back all sorts of memories of trips as a child. Long hours spent in the back of the car with angry parents in the front! Hopefully I shall behave better as an adult than I did as a child! Happy

You know what my metric is for activity? The jokes. It means that members are posting enough to hit those milestones. Jokes seem to be stagnating.

Speaking of which, I'll be coming up to a joke milestone in about 150 posts. But I'm going to email it first to a moderator to find out if it's clean enough for the board. It's my favorite joke and about the only one I can remember.
