I've never seen anything like this on Slow Travel before! Leslie didn't know what he did. What did he do, and how can others of us do this (if we should someday want to)??
There is an option when you go to "New" in some of the forums to do a photo album. The board has supported this for a while but we had it turned off. Pauline turned it on a while back.
The feature originally had a lot of bugs and we disabled. I took another look at it a year ago to see if it was better than Slow Photos. It still had some things lacking to take the place of Slow Photos.
I thought it did a good job with the GTG photos. I think it might be good for a small album. I think it would be great for people to try it out and see how it works. It is a nice feature.
I enabled photo albums on the message board again a few months ago. But I still don't like them - slowphotos is better. If you look at Brent's photos, you see that he uploaded large files and the compression is not good - the image is not crisp. When you click for the large version, it is pixelated.
I tested it yesterday and I didn't have any pixelated results. I wonder what size his originals were? I di a variety of sizes (600-1024) to see how it handles the larger sizes. I'll go add a huge photo and see if that pixelates.
The largest I could upload within the 150km limit was 1280 wide. I did use the option to save for the web in Photoshop elements to get the photos within the size limit.
I wonder what size the photos were to start with that Brent uploaded. It could be that he had the wrong dpi.

Good to know there is a 150kb limit (hey, Marta - you wrote 150km - thinking about travel again?? ) - I was picturing the server filling up with huge uploaded images.
Brent's ears are now burning because of everyone discussing his photo stuff. I still think they came out very interesting even though it may not be as "crisp" as some other photo placements. He had fun doing it and that is what counts! I am working on getting him to register as an individual slow traveler on the board....
I actually thought the photos looked just fine... great, really. (My eyesight may not see the difference in these pixels that the experts see.) And I thought the new format was interesting-- first time I have seen it used.
It seems like it's an alternate way to post a short album in a thread.
Anyway, now I know! (And I'll watch how I size the photos.)
