I have tried to find the answer to these questions here but without success. [I do, though, appreciate Pokey's recent response about how to size a picture using iPhoto to upload to a forum. It has been a problem for me, but most recently I've used Xee.]
OK, here's the issue: From these forums, it seems clear that PhotoPost will work with a Mac. Is this true? Any particular system requirements? Secondly, how do I download PhotoPost? Is it available on SlowTravel, or do I go to a site where it's sold and buy it? If the former, do I have to be registered on the Slow Photos site to get it? I tried to register just now but received a message saying that I was already registered. Since my other SlowTravel passwords won't work, I've been waiting a while to get an e-mail telling me what it is.
Thanks!
Ann
P.S. Oops! Now it seems I have an overriding problem. I requested and received a new password. I received two, but neither would work with either my old or my new UserName. I can't seem to login at all. Any suggestions? HELP!!
Your user name was the old one, paceaj (I think). I've since changed it to AppalAnnie - try using the second password you received with the AppalAnnie as the user name and let me know what happens.
Thanks, but that still doesn't work (and I'd tried it that way earlier today). It's a puzzle. No combination seems to work, but I can't reregister either.
And do I have to be logged in to access PhotoPost.
Thanks, Kim. I can now sign in. However, I'm still confused about PhotoPost. Can I download it somewhere, or is it utilized by the site once I upload photos? If the latter, then that puzzles me even more (e.g., what process/software do I use?).
Annie, photopost is the software we use on our server to store and organize the photos. It will allow you to enter a name for the photo, a description, rotate the photo or flip it but as far as any other photo editing features, it does not have them.
Is there a chance you're confusing photopost with photoshop which many of us use to edit our photos before we upload them?

No, I'm just not sure how to begin, how to access photopost, or don't I at all? I don't have photoshop. What software do I use, then, to get it to the website in the right size? I have the latest version of iPhoto and Canon ImageBrowser, as well as some separate image viewers, such as Preview and Xee. Do I just go the website and fill in the boxes?
Sorry to be such a dud about this, but it seemed to me that the availability of photopost would permit me to upload without more sophisticated software such as PhotoShop.
Thanks! But that doesn't give me the more detailed info that I think Roz was referencing, unless I understood what she said.
Roz,
I know you are traveling, but I need your help big time. First, I understood that if you uploaded to SlowPhoto, you didn't need to downsize since photopost would do it. Am I wrong?
Second, and more critically, I finally got around to organizing the first set (of many, many) that I wanted to upload and then found that, even though I had created an album, I had to do it individually, rather than by the album - a royal pain! The "browse" link wouldn't let me access the whole folder I had created. I couldn't upload them directly from iPhoto because the subfolder on iPhoto I wanted wasn't - apparently - downloadable. I was going to do about 1/4th of the set, but only got to #7 when I made a mistake.
Third and re that mistake, can I delete or edit a single photo in an album? I couldn't find a way to do it. I hit the "submit" button prematurely and didn't label the last one correctly.
If you get a chance, I'd like some good advice, but I'm in no big hurray. I've delayed for months, if not years, uploading photos and writing trip reports anyway. But I wanted to get try one to see how it goes.
Ann, I confess that I do not use iPhoto. It is a wonderful program if you are keeping all your pictures on the Mac, but I find it difficult to use if you want to export your photos elsewhere. I think it's partly because I started using a Mac long ago, before there was any such program as iPhoto, so I got used to doing things a different way and never switched to iPhoto.
I do think it's kind of a painstaking process to upload photos to Slow Photos from a Mac. The couple of times I have tried it, I wasn't able to get the batch uploading to work, and I did have to do them one by one.
I'm also not sure if the automatic resizing would work from a Mac, or if you have to resize the photos before you upload them. It seems to me that I did it that way (resizing them first).
This, as Marta said, is where Pokey and girasoli explained how to do the resizing.
Annie, if you like, just e-mail me the photos (can you do that from the Mac), and I'll upload them to your album. Then you can just edit the titles/descriptions.
I think I've taken care of it for now, even though it took a bit of time. Roz has sent me a few PMs which helped a lot. Now I just have to figure out how to organize photos in iPhoto better so they are more accessible.
I appreciate your offer.
Incidentally, once an album has been created on line, does someone have to be notified - or is it automatic?
I usually go in once a week to SlowPhotos to see who has been uploading and announce it on the forums but if you would like to do the honors, feel free.
