Welcome to Slow Talk Tips - a new series to help you know more about the Slow Talk forum and how to use it. Today's post will cover how to edit your post.

Do you ever post your message and then realize that you misspelled a word or left out something important? The Edit Message capability can help you. You can edit your post within 60 minutes of the time you posted your message. Click the red box with the pencil inside in the lower right corner of your post to edit your post. This is the middle icon (hover your mouse over it to display the tip - it will read Edit or Delete Message). The Edit Post window will open and allow you to make changes.

If your message is the first message of the thread, you can also edit the title of the thread. You can add an attachment such as a photo by clicking Add Attachment in Edit Post window. If you have an attachment, you can edit (replace) it by clicking the Edit link next to the attachment file name. A blank "Browse" box will come up and you browse and attach a different file. When you have completed your changes, click post. You can edit your post multiple times. The only limit is you have 60 minutes of the time from when you posted the message to make your edits.

If you wish to make changes after 60 minutes, go to the yellow triangle (AKA, alert button) in the lower right corner of the post. This will bring up an alert window where you can request that one of the moderators make the changes for you.

A couple of other tips - if you are editing your post and you want to start your changes over (cancel) - just click the X in the upper right corner and none of your changes will be saved. Also if you have made an edit in the message and immediately want to undo what you just changed, type Control+Z on the PC or Command+Z on the Mac. This will usually undo your last edit.

Don't forget instructions are also on the Slow Talk How To Help page - a great reference if you can't find this thread. You can always find a link to help in the forum header.
