While I'm at it, I also can't seem to figure out how to change my photo in my profile and replace it with a more recent photo. What is an avatar anyway?

An avatar is just a photo. To change your photo, Go My Space, Profile, then choose View/Edit Complete Profile at the upper right. Scroll down to Avatar / Picture URL and click edit. Choose whether you want to provide a URL or Upload, fill in the blank and click on Update Avatar. (To tell the truth I'm not sure what those buttons on the left mean...)

Chris, I am still having a hard time. I've replaced the photo, but then the one I put in is absolutely enormous. I've cropped it and reloaded it, but it is still way too big.

Any suggestions??

Crop it to no wider than 400 pixels (300 is good) and set the resolution to 72ppi - then it will be fine.

The photo you uploaded is at 180ppi resolution and is 648 pixels wide.
