Actually the Perus phots are pretty cool, but that is not the issue.

I tried get a list of all photos in the Italy category to see, just for fun, which is the most viewed. I got Peru. So, something is wrong. Here is what I did

Advanced Search no entries into any windws except
Specify A Date Range = 2 years
Select Categories = Italy
here is what I get

The first two photos are Peru. I checked them and they are in fact where they belong, namely the SA/Peru Category, so there is no reason for them to pop up for a Category/Italy Search.

So I narrowed it by re-doing the search and keeping everything as is with one change
Select Categoies = Ancient Rome
here is what I get (Peru again)

Either I am using the Search function wrong, or it does not work. Or maybe both)

I'll look into it. I thought I got the search issues fixed but it sounds like there still might be some issues.

I found a fix for the date range. I've got a bug posted for the searching on catagories.

Regarding finding the most viewed photo in the Italy catagory, I'm not certain if we're going to be able to do that even when I get the bug fix. Even though we have the page layout showing many areas below Italy, there is no relationship in the database between these catagories; example Italy and Liguria. The database sees each one as a separate catagory. To search on all of Italy, you will have to select all the catagories under Italy.

I also noticed that the personal albums are not listed as catagories so you can only search through them if you select all catagories. We have them linked in the catagories via the ability to link to another catagory but the search function doesn't have the ability to include them linked in this manner.

I also think the sorting at the bottom doesn't work when you have custom view sort. I'll have to research that more.

I got a fix for search by catagory so it should be working better now both by date and catagory.

For catagory to work, you will need to select everything in the 'subcatagory'. The Italy catagory itself has no photos and the board software isn't able to search the subcatagories.

For example, I got it to search on all of Campania not by just selecting Campania but also including the catagories underneath (General, Amalfi coast, Naples, etc). Unfortunately, this does make it hard to find everything new posted in Italy unless you select all the catagories under Italy.

thanks for looking into this. The Category explanation solved that problem. But I still can't avoid the Peru problem. It just search the "All Categories" for the disjunction "napoli" (33 hits)or "naples" (25 hits)and it worked, I got all 58 hits, and no others. But when go to the bottom and Sort. I get the photos of Peru plus a lot of others that are not in the "Naples or Napoli" results. I get this no matter which Sort term I use.

I see what you are talking about. Let me see if I can find if that has been reported and/or fixed in the software. If not, I'll report it.
