In that closed thread about carrying a passport in Italy, I wanted to add a link to the British Embassy and its travel advice for Italy "Keep your passport in the hotel safe and carry a photocopy with you"

here is the link where the advice is posted:

http://www.britishembassy.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename...ge&cid=1075811794316

Can a "mod" do that for me? I think at least British citizens reading this website ought to have a link to their own government's advice and the relevant quote posted.

Italiasoon, to answer the other question in your post:

That topic was about what the Government of Italy requires from visitors in terms of ID. The answers were from officials of the Italian Government administration.

Your link is about what services and advise the British Embassy provides for Britons in Italy, which is more specific on one hand, and much wider on the other hand, than the ID topic.

If you think this is useful material (and I don't disagree) my suggestion will be to open a separate topic, with a good, catchy and searcheable title, and to place the link there.

The problem is that there appears to be a contradiction between the now documented Italian requirements and advise from the British Embassy on what ID to carry and this contradiction should be highlighted appropriately if this information is posted.

To add this to the now closed topic would only confuse the issues.
