Well tried that still not working - have also now reinstalled macromedia - which was coming up as a black square on the blank page of chat....any other suggestions greatfully received...maybe an IE XP prob? Thanx

maybe xp firewall is blocking something. You could turn it off and see whether it makes a difference. And cookies are enabled? It sounds like something to do with signing in to me. Clive

Clive is right on track with the items to check. Chat uses Flash version 7.0 and it also uses port 8080. As a test, I activated the XP service pack 2 firewall. It did not cause any problems for me and I am still able to access Chat. But I do recommend that you check your firewall to see if it is blocking port 8080. Another item to check is your security level in IE if you are using it. This page has some good general items to check including changing you security settings.
