I do not mean to revive a controversial thread that has been locked (and rightly so IMHO) or beat a dead horse but I was traveling during a lot of the discussion about where to post an experience and the negative review discussion and was unable to respond. Since my postcard about my Umbrian wine tour and cooking class was referred to repeatedly during the dicussion, I feel a need to make a small point (if the moderators will allow me).
I wrote the postcard (available by clicking my signature) to share with ST members two different Umbrian experiences that I really enjoyed. I did not write a trip report about that particular trip but really felt that these 2 days were special and reflected the warmth and hospitality that I experienced in Umbria. They were NOT meant as a review or an indication of how every winery tour or cooking class should or would be. They were just my recounting of our group's particular experience perhaps because of our group's personalities or the vendors' expansiveness on that day. We clicked, it was great, part of several "only in Italy" experiences I have had the great fortune to experience. I think that is the point of postcards. As another poster said, you can't necessarily expect to book such a experience. That being said, perhaps my positive postcard did raise expecataions and maybe even brought more business to both vendors. So be it, that is not why I wrote it.
I understand that ST does not currently have the capacity for a review section for tours etc. I hope someday it will as I do think that would be helpful as it would have a very different "feel" and function than a postcard or travel note. Just my 2 cents that I needed to get off my chest and really not meant to rehash the previous discussion.
