Just today I noticed that I cannot access the smilies when I post. They are apparently "there" because if I click blindly the icon is added to my post.

I recently upgraded to Netscape 8.1 from Netscape 7.1.

Anyone else?

I didn't know people still used Netscape. Why don't you give FireFox a try if you are looking for an alternative to IE?

http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

Your smilies are probably lost because of the new version of Netscape. They are still here in IE - Smile

I've always used Netscape, never IE unless I have to. The new version of Netscape is supposed to be based on Firefox, as it happens.

I just tried Firefox and the smilies were there. So I downloaded Netscape 8.1 and I still have smilies. (See test area). I installed using the defaults and not allowing any other of their offered software installs. Do you remember if you did? I'm on Netscape 8.1 now... Chicken

I wish this site had a heart smiley - a simple one like travel heroes get. A glass of wine and a piece of cheese would be good too. Of course love, a glass of wine and a piece of cheese would be rather nice in real life as well. Smile

Lagatta, I have never had the smileys, or emoticon or whatever they are called Frown
At least they don't show up when I type the message, like now Wink
We have FireFox. Maybe when I post this, the little heads will appear, lets try Roll Eyes

Aha, mystery solved, Maggie! No one ever sees the smileys while typing the message, just the code for them. They appear when the message is posted. The code for the cow is a : followed by the word cow followed by another : .April Fool

Okay Chris, when I place my cursor over your dancing cow, it says 'April Fool.'

Explain that!

I found the cow when searching for annoying things for our April Fool joke - www.slowtraveltours.com . And I thought I would give the cow to the board as an April Fool present. So she says "April Fool".

For anyone who has been on the board less than three years, a caution: Never ask me for the dancing carrot (or banana or cuke or chili).
