My plans and reservations have been made for some time to spend a week in Venice at the beginning of October and then a week in Rome. It now turns out that that period may be my only opportunity to visit a friend in Bangladesh who is now in his 80s and having some difficulties.

A couple of weeks ago I checked Expedia and several other online travel agencies and found that a RT ticket to New Delhi (a friend of his could fly me to Bangladesh from there) from either Venice or Rome would be $800-900 on any of a number of carriers, which I think I could cover with credit card miles, so I believed there was a real possibility that I could have my cake in Venice and in Chittagong too, foregoing Rome until the miles built up again.

Last night, however, I checked the travel sites again and the prices ranged from $1400 to $5000!! That puts it WAY out of my range.

Does anyone know of a reliable airline which makes that kind of route at reasonable prices? I know I've seen threads here about cheap flights - aha, I just remembered the name Ryanair and will check it out!- within Europe; and there must be many transplanted Indians who make the trip with some regularity...

I would really like to do this, crazy as it sounds, so would be grateful for any ideas.

Thanks!

Hi Dorothy,
You might check out the http://www.bootsnall.com website.

They have a link to a cheap tickets search engine that may come up with some other airline options for you.

Thanks Colleen - that's a great resource for off the beaten track (to us) travel. I'm beginning to feel encouraged again! Angel
