I had a question about double sleepers on the central european rail system. My husband and I are planning on taking 3 night trains on our trip. Budapest to Prague, Prague to Krakow, and Krakow to Berlin. We currently have a 2nd class European East Pass. When I was looking for reservation info on RailEurope, it seemed that we needed a 1st class pass (or a supplement upgrade ticket) to use a private double sleeper. But I have also heard that the 2nd class pass is all we need. Does anyone have any experience with this?
We have the ability to exchange our 2nd class pass for a 1st class one. This seems to be more cost efficient than buying 3 seperate upgrade tickets. But if a 2nd class pass is enough for the double sleeper, than we would rather save the money and keep the passes we have.
Also, i was wondering if there was a big difference in the quality of seating when it comes to 1st class and 2nd class on Central Europe trains?
I have had a hard time finding websites that give me information about this. Slowtravel has always been such a great resourse for us, that I thought I should ask here.
Thanks in Advance! Heather
