In my search for a dual voltage travel hair dryer, I've become confused about what voltage I need. I read somewhere Italy is 220v. But as I've done more research, I see that Italy (and the rest of Europe except the UK) is really 230v, and appliances "up to" 250v can be used.

Is this correct? If I buy a hair dryer that is 240 or 250v, will it work in Italy? Or do I need to get one that specifically says 220v? Confused

Judith's worked and if not, take a converter and you can still use it at 110 with the converter.

Not an issue...

Buy one there?.. you can but who wants to make finding a curling iron or hair dryer a priority while on vacation?

There are two basic standard wall currents in the world, 100-125 volts (USA), and 220-250 volts (Europe). Any dual voltage appliance will work on either system. The difference between 220 and 240 is not significant, but you'll need the appropriate plug adapter.
Magellans.com sells everything imaginable and the website has thorough information about all the variables.

My Breville little lightweight foldup hair dryer was from Kmart. It says on it: dual voltage travel dryer. Breville Model TD50B. 120/ 230 - 240 V. 50Hz. 1100 - 1200W.

I bought it a year ago for A$9.95.

Thanks, Kayd. The plug adaptor I'll have. I'm trying to avoid having to buy and lug around a converter, as I won't need it for anything else except the hair dryer. And I definitely don't want to waste vacation time shopping for this when I get there.
