There have been some big changes at Slow Travel Tours, the travel company that the message board moderators run "on the side".

In April 2005 we launched with a great selection of packaged tours. Everything from a fast (blurred) tour of Europe, to the ulitmate slow tour of Poggibonsi, to an obsessive/compulsive tour of Switzerland, to the ultimate tour of the Uffizi. Read more about our Tours.

Our tours were such a success (yes, everyone wants to spend time with the SlowTrav moderators - even if they have to pay), that in April 2006 we launched our selection of villas and vacation rentals.

We offer perfect apartments in Rome and Florence, a themed Cotswolds cottage, an amazingly well design Swiss Chalet, an Amsterdam Canal House, and places in the Italian countryside that are almost "American". Plus some lovely "extras". Read more about our Villas.

Slow Travel Tours would not have been such a success without my sublime web design talent. The pages jump out at you - literally! The colors are soothing to the eye. The navigation is perfect. The information is just what you need to make your buying choices. Oh, and Steve wrote the code for the rotating photos, so I guess he helped too (not that you ever see him on the message board).

------------------------------------------------------------

But, what are we announcing now?

In April 2007 we are launching a new tour and some new services to make your tours and vacation rentals even better.

We have added a new tour, created by our new moderator Doru: ElderGeezr Tour - join us in the unforgivable adventure, The Modern Day Grand Tour!
Slow Travel Tours - ElderGeezr Tour

We created a new division - Slow Travel Services with the following offerings:

Slow Travel Car Rental! We have the car for you! The perfect Slow Travel car - it doesn't go too far, and it doesn't go too fast. It makes your Slow Travel dreams come true.

Slow Pets: What is the only sad thing about a trip? Leaving your pets at home! Well be sad no longer! We will bring your pets and treat them to an excellent European adventure!

NoSlowChild: You love your children, you don't want to travel without them, but it is exhausting meeting their needs in a foreign country. Don't send them to summer camp while you go to Europe! Bring them with you and let us give them their own vacation while you relax nearby.

Slow Chicks: Hosting a SlowTrav GTG at that fabulous villa you rented in Italy? Can't imagine what 30 strangers will say to each other? Worry no more, hire the Slow Chicks to create the perfect GTG and to entertain everyone!

Trip Planning: I know, it is a lot of work planning a trip. I know, you have a busy full life and don't want to spend your evenings reading guidebooks and making decisions. But you have to and I will show you how!

Read more about our Slow Travel Services.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Please visit www.slowtravtours.com and see our new offerings. And book a trip with us for heaven's sake!!

We welcome your POSITIVE comments and feedback - you "negative Nellies" can keep your comments to yourself!!

Pauline, I don't get it! Were we not supposed to first discuss management before announcements? I'll take my toys and go to Fodor's!

Doru, you are the newest moderator - of course you cannot "fully participate" in Slow Travel Tours. Lets be patient and see if your ElderGeezr Tour is a success.

Just how long does one have to be around before being able to "fully participate?" It seems like I've been waiting a very long time!

I'll bet Maureen will be the first to sign up! But only if Ryan does, too.

*whistles innocently*

Okay, I read about the trip planning services you offer, but I don't see any mention of the single most important aspect of trip planning: what should I wear in Europe? I'm sure that if I only wear the correct clothes, the friendly natives won't notice that not only do I have an American accent, I can't even speak Slowikian (except "Vronsku blatski WC?" of course), as well as the fact that I'm a good foot taller than the average Slowikian woman, and will think that I'm one of them. Can't you please help? I really, really need to conform!

Right! I knew I joined this website for a reason!

Decisions, decisions... which tour will be the best for me?

Er, which one do you recommend for me? I'm work it out from my profile pic years old, like to spend all day on the computer and to have a cat on my lap. I'd like to travel with a small group of like minded people.

I won't be traveling with my two teenagers at this stage (they can bite me Skype me), apart from weekend fishing getaways.

Do I get one of those "made by Pauline" personalized guide books? Can I have it signed, as maybe I can resell it for more on ebay that way.

Yes, well, how many people signed up for your "fast trip" to Europe? Not many! Just enough to cover purchasing those buses, which are now at a parking lot at Rome airport - and we have to pay for the parking!!

I'm so glad we get April Fool's Day every year! Thanks, Doru and mods -- Amy - if my kids weren't 40 and 44 I'd sign them up for your trip in a flash!

Judy (ElderGeezer extraordinaire).

ps: Doru - if we pay a 10.000 supplement can we get flush toilets instead of Turkish ones??????

I dunno, Chris. I heard a rumor tonight about another Mod trying to elbow in on the budding romance...

Maybe Maureen will need to avail herself of the services of one of our new ads on SlowTravelTours

And Maureen's really letting her delusions of a relationship with Ryan go to her head.

"Delusions?" Rather, "Delights", in the neat little apartment in Rome I've heard they rented together Big Grin!

I just hope they won't need the NoSlowChild Tour too soon, Doru. Those wacky lovebirds need time to work out the kinks in the relationship.
