On our last trip to NYC, my husband and I were shocked at the friendly nature of the people. We stopped to look at our map several times and were asked if we needed help finding our destination. One man sitting in a cafe said in a very thick NY accent "by the way, welcome to NY". We encounters several police officers making their rounds who were equally friendly.
I have been told that 911 has forever changed the attitude of NYC. The aftermath was devastating for the city in more ways than one. They are incredible people who have shown their true grit and dignity. It is a world class city with a very big heart.
