My 7-year-old son and I will be flying Eurofly on June 11 from Rome to NYC (and then back again the end of July) and I was wondering if anyone has flown them. The travel agent here recommended them and their prices weren't bad, but now I'm worried...how are meals? I dont' suppose they have individual screens and different entertainment channels...but do they at least show a movie? Just wondering...

I can't say yet but I will be returning a few days before your trip and I will post a quick report.

All I'm hoping for is more leg room! Big Grin

Diane: their website says they have individual screens in seat backs and seat fabric design by Fiorucci! How bad can it be?

This direct to Rome is relatively new, isn't it?

Yes, Allison, the Rome/NY route is new. Before I would have had to go to Naples Airport to use Eurofly, which isn't really much farther for me, just unknown. Individual screens!! No, too good to be true!!!

My friends just called from Italy and said Eurofly was wonderful They did not weigh the carry ons but they have strict rules on check in luggage it can only be 50 lbs they will charge you if you go over the 50 lb mark. They said the airplane arrived on time and it was a pleasant and smooth ride. My friends couldn't talk long but I will be going to Italy Via Eurofly on June 19 as soon as I get back I will post something based on my very own experience but now I am not so nervous using Eurofly.

I'm home and happy to report a good experience with Eurofly. We flew direct from NY/JFK to Bologna. The plane was a airbus 330 with a 2-4-2 seat configuration. The seats did appear to have more legroom as they claim. Jim is 5'11" and was able to stretch his legs out and my knees were well clear of the seat in front of me. The overhead storage also seemed a little bigger.

The crew was pleasant and available through the entire flight. The meals offered were unexpectedly very good and even enjoyable.

The best part about the flight was there was only 47 passengers. Everyone was able to claim a set of four middle seats and stretch out and sleep. It was very enjoyable and almost as good as my running fantasy where I get bumped up to first class.

There is a weight limit for carry on of only 10 pounds but nobody checked or even asked. They were also not strict about my overweight checkable luggage but that could be because the plane was so empty.

Our return flight leaving from Naples to JFK was also good. Check in was a breeze and again had no trouble with weight limits.

The plane was about half full with plenty of extra room to move around. The flights were better than I had hoped for but I think mostly due to the amount of passengers. I'm sure they will fill up as they get better known but for now I am happy and plan on using them again.

We also had a decent flight from Rome to NY, again in a half empty plane! I hope they start to fill up or I'm afraid they'll go out of business! My son's only complaint was that they were showing the movie "Robots" for kids, which isn't new. Nevertheless, he watched it 3 or 4 times. Also, we got a lunch (that was good) and later, our second meal was just a ham or cheese sandwhich on a not-that-great roll. OK, maybe I'm spoilt after living in Italy for a year! I'd take them again and only wish they flew year-round as their prices were the best. Oh, and they told me that Italian citizens could bring luggage that was 23 kilos, but Americans were allowed 30 kilos per bag. Whaaaat? That sounds crazy. Could that be true, and if so, why?

I Got back from Italy on the July 16. The trip to Italy was fine the plane was full and crazy with children and the expected packed plane experience. Our carry ons were not weighed. The plane was nice there were TV screens for every seat and plenty of movies to choose from and games for children and adults to play. The food was fine we were given a hot meal that was surprisingly good and a nice breakfast of coffe and cornetti ( typical italian breakfast) the kids had a choice of pineapple juice or orange juice. The stewardess's were fine on the way there but coming home was another story. The stewardess's were so crancky and I didn't even talk to any of them I noticed how they were other flyers. I lost my luggage coming home and I am having a difficult time with Eurofly. Its 10 days now since I have been home and no one from Eurofly is helping me. I am getting the run around. I have contacted the corprate offices in Milan and there is no response. I faxed, I emailed, I called. I wonder if I was one of the Italian soccer players and they lost all thier luggage if they would do this to me. I know luggage gets lost but I can't seem to get anyone on the phone and calling Italy and being put on hold only to be told I need to call someone else is very expensive. The airfare is resonable and the overall service was great but like I said to get my luggage back its a different story. And when you leave make sure you give your family your itinerary because my family said they had a hard time findng any information regarding Eurofly and our flight.

SanMango,

Did you recover your luggage?

We have tickets for an August 22 flight from JFK to Palermo so was interested if you ever got your problem resolved.

I have only recieved on peice of luggage back. And I have not heard anything from Rome, when I call I usually get hung up on. I don't want to see my phone bill. If you could, do not bring Black luggage that is the worst color to take. If you have black baggage please place an information tag on the inside as well as the outside of the bag and most of all some kind of wild colored scarf around your handle that will not fall off. Or better yet spray paint a big orange X on it if your not worried about painting the luggage. The Girl who was checking us into our flight never put a tag on our bags. She gave us the stubs for our bags but she failed to put the tags on the bag so there was no way of tracking the bags even if they were put on a different flight by accident. The bag we did get back we were told was untagged and never left Rome I got it back 10 days later. We are on day 16 and no word on my other luggage. We were able to get one peice back because I was able to describe detail by detail what was in my bag. It was all clothing but I was able to give colors, sizes, names on tags etc... I wish you luck. If you don't lose your luggage Eurofly is not a terrible company to travel with but if you lose luggage it is impossible to talk to a Eurofly representitive on the phone and if you get someone on the phone they blow you off and make you think they are doing something about your luggage. I called everyday every two hours just to get back one bag. And I am still calling every day every two hours to get another back and there is no 1-800 number so you can imagine what my phone bill looks like and to call Rome I have to wake up at 3:00am to get hung up on and that phone bill is not going to be pretty either. Lots of luck to you. I am assuming it is Eurofly you are fyling with?

San Mango,
Get a Skype Out account, and you can place the call to Italy from your computer for 2 cents a minute. Look at skype.com for more information.

I'm confused. Is Eurofly an airline or a broker? When I type in eurofly.com i just get a list of brokers such as orbitz.

An airline. It used to be a charter airline of Alitalia but since 2003 is wholly owned by a company in Luxembourg.

As I mentioned, I liked the flight, thought it was "good enough" but they certainly don't have the customer support we are accustomed to. Their offices in NY are open only Mon-Friday, 9 to 5 I believe (yet their flights are Fri, Sat & Sunday only) and there's no way to get flight information when you need it (as office is closed and website is only for making reservations).

I think Eurofly offers great discounts for traveling to Italy and the Plane was wonderful. But as you said Customer service is not very good. It is very difficult to get anyone on the phone and in the USA the NY, NJ numbers are only for making flight reservations. Any other issues you need to speak to someone about your going to have some difficulty especially if you have to call coorporate headquarters in Milan. I would still recommend Eurofly to anyone who wants great airfare on a great plane, Its just that I lost my luggage and I had a hard time getting any information. I am a first time traveler and I learned alot taking this trip. I needed to be more careful with my baggage as well, Black was the worst color to bring. I should have had more than one ID tag on my bag. The one ID tag I had on it somehow was ripped off. And while the bags were being weighed I should have also paid closer attention to the person tagging each bag and giving me the bag tag stubs. But when your travelilng with children you are easily distracted so in all fairness I was just as responsible for my bags being lost as the airline... even though it was a direct flight. But as I said now that I need to talk to people with the airline to be reimbursed for my lost luggage I am not getting any response not even from coorporate headquarters. I would still use Eurofly again though.

I am sorry for all your troubles but will learn from you for our future flight.

I will put our ID twice on each bag as well as inside. I will add something distinctive.

After our domestic flight from Pensacola to JFK I have to gather our luggage first before going through customs for our Eurofly flight from JFK to Palermo. This makes it pretty safe to not loose luggage. I am thankful it is a direct flight.

I am hoping the flight will not be very full so that we can stretch out to sleep during the night.

I need to buy luggage locks but want to be sure they are the approved kind. Anyone have a link?

Carol,
I called Eurofly regarding locks on my luggage, when I was getting ready for my trip, and I was told we were not allowed to use any tpye of lock whatsoever. My mother-in-law assumed the rules did not apply to her and used locks anyway and was asked to remove them and her luggage was searched. So you may want to call and see if anything has changed since then. Please remember when you are going through customs and your bags are being checked in to watch the person closely who is tagging your baggage. Make sure he/she puts a tag on each peice of luggage and that you recieve a stub for each peice of luggage. Lots of luck to you!
