Will be leasing car for 70+ days p/u Madrid - return Paris - checking rates with Europebycar - Auto Europe - Idea Merge - Auto France - anybody else should check.
We have priced Peugot & Renault -- want smallest manual transmission - diesel -- I am 6'2" - 200 lbs weight -- since neither of these are available in US - am concerned about my comfort for drive & ride. To complicat - my wife is 5'0" and 115 lbs -- both 55+.
Will I fit into either the Peugot 1007 or 207 or is the small Renault a better fit. Suggestions appreciated.

We leased a Renault Clio diesel last Fall. My husband is 6'1" and 200+ pounds. He did feel there wasn't enough head room and was afraid I would hit the breaks quickly and he would hit his head on the roof. He just leaned his seat back and everything was fine. He really isn't a complainer, though.
I do think we will lease a larger car next time, just to give him more head room. Unless, of course, the price is a lot more.

I also have problems with headroom in modern cars although I'm only 5' 10". Evidently, the SUV "revolution" has caused car makers to crank up the seat height so wannabe SUV folks could sit higher or something. I have as much trouble in my mother's Buick as I do in our Civic. Tons of headroom in our old, pre-SUV CRX. I have short arms, to tilting the seat back makes me drive like old Italian race drivers--arms straight out.

That said, I've always liked the Clio. We leased a Peugeot 207 last year, and it was fine.

A warning on the Peugeot if you have big feet. The pedal cluster in Peugeots is attached with a horizontal bar above the pedals. If you have large feet, you will be able to span from the bar to the floor, without touching the clutch pedal at all (although you might think you're hitting the pedal, your toes are braced against the top bar instead). This makes driving for me difficult. I'd like to hear if others have had this problem, maybe it's just me.

I also really like the Megane, but it's probably a little larger than you're looking for.

Thanks for responses.
Went with Kemwel -- Peugeot 207 110 HP Manual Diesel. Lease for 70 days - worked out to approx. $32/day - inclusive of everything. Great people to work with - give AAA or AARP discount.

I'm 6 foot and 250 lbs. We leased a Peugeot 206 manual diesel last spring for 7 weeks. With the seat all the way back, I had plenty of room and was actually supprised how comfortable the car was. I think ours was 70 HP and had plenty of get up and go. I'm sure you'll be very happy with your 207. See our trip report.
