I just received a notice that I was eligible for a refund of credit card foreign transaction fees occuring over about a decade. Does anyone know about this? It looks real, but is it? ---Marlene

I got one also. I signed up for option 2 online. They did not ask for my credit card number or anything else that I thought could be used to tap into my bank accounts or credit cards. They only asked for the refund IDand the number of days I spent outside the US during that decade.
We'll see what happens.

I just got mine as well. Option 2 for me. Could be a hundred bucks, but who knows? I never heard of this class-action suit, but I guess I won. Weird? I think so.
What credit card company? Since I've used my US credit card over here for the last six years, I've had a heck of a lot of foreign transaction fees. Is there somewhere I should be looking? (Statements and letters are not sent overseas, but to a US address)

I'm not sure if you live over there that the refund would apply. I suppose it would be obvious if you submit charges for every month of those six years or say you were traveling those 2190 days!.
For some reason My wife got the notice, but not me. Under option 2, I figure she has 98 days traveling overseas. We are probably on the low end for this group! I suppose I can submit online my own application I figure 120 days of travel in those years. RR
Have any of you actually received any money yet? I am always skeptical of something coming in the mail (or was this an email?) that says I can get something free. How did they get your names? Was it from a credit card company? Really curious since we've traveled quite a bit and paid the fees.
I read about this a while ago. It's part of a class action settlement against MC, Visa and Diners Club(I think) b/c they didn't advertise the fees (or something like that). I think it's for use during a time frame that started in the 90s and ended a few years ago (when they started advertising the fees).
I got the same notice and did not know what to make of it. I was going to take a closer look and research the suit when I did my bills over the weekend. Thanks Kim for posting the links and saving me some time.
I suppose if its legit then I'll fill out the form, a refund of any sort would be great.
I have recieved similar notices and recieved a refund. The refund will not come until a month or two after the application process, so count on summer next year. RR
Yes I received this as well and I will file under option 2. I have to count up my days, over 10 years could be quite a bit!
I do vaguely recall receiving the initial mailing for this about a year ago, wherein you could opt out of the process, but if you did nothing you were automatically entered in the suit.
These class action suites have often netted me either money or other rebates; a recent one from Verizon got me a free phone card with $100 on it, and an Epson one got me $50 in printer supplies (which I forgot to redeem...this reminds me to check the expiration date.)
Yes my husband got one but not me, which is weird. THanks for that info link Kim. I did not read this all the way thru and was thinking how am I going to itemize all that? So you just have to say how many days you were out of the country?

I received mine today and chose option 2 - 100 days. All those photo albums I meticulously keep sure came in handy and made it easy to tally up the days. I told my husband that, if I ever have to prove the dates, I'm ready with an armload (or two) of my books - I'll also be happy to regale (or bore to tears) the auditors with all our stories of our travels!

I got mine in the mail yesterday, too. I was trying to recall trips when it dawned on me: look at my passports! That made it easier to tally up the days, and was a nice trip down memory lane.

Maureen, reading your post was a 'doh' moment for me until I took a look at the two passports I have that cover this period of time. Not only are the entry and exit stamps for each trip on widely separate pages but they're hardly legible at all. Now I feel a little less dumb about tallying up my dates by looking through my photo albums.

I got two of them. I paid for my husband's expenses whe we went to Paris on my credit card. Do you think I can claim his 10 days in Paris on the second refund slip that I got? I already factored those 10 days onto the first application I put in.

Thanks so much for posting this! I am still a little confused though.
Over the years, I have used a few different cards. One was closed due to someone somehow getting my number a few years ago and another I closed last year. To make it even more confusing, both of these cards were MBNA cards which are now Bank of America cards. Most of mytrips were used with these 2 cards. I do still have all the credit card bills for these cards for the months I was in Europe so I could probably prove somehow all of my costs using the 3rd option but I also do not want to provide my credit card number.
I looked at the info Kim linked. The application for option 2 does require a credit card. I would have no problem providing my old closed credit card number but I am not sure if that would be accepted. Do I need to get the application sent with your bill to do option 2 without needing to put a credit card number on the form. Are there different forms for different cards from different banks, some asking for a credit card number for option 2 and some not asking for the number?
I was surprised that I have been in Europe a total of 226 days (204 of them in Italy).

As I also used my card before I physically moved here, that's why I asked the questions I did in my post, and included that I don't receive any letters or notifications from the card/bank, so I wouldn't have known of any refunds or class-action suits.
Kim, thanks for including the link in your post, so that those of us that didn't know about it we could find the information Seems my bank/card (Washington Mutual/Providian) was named as a culprit! So I'm sure the letter is sitting in the pile that hasn't been forwarded to me.
I posted about this here in February, and completed the form online then. Today I received a notice in the mail, which I guess is worded differently from what's reported in this thread because I gave the previous information. Since I gave detailed information based on my Microsoft Money records, they say that would be equivalent to what they want for the "new Ref
