before i start, im sorry if this is in the wrong section...im a noob!

on the 22nd sept this year, myself and my boyfriends family will be flying out to orlando florida and i was wondering about what i can/cant take on board on the outgoing and return flight.

i have googled until im blue in the face, but i can not find out if:

a) can we take digital camera's and battery's on board going out from scotland and then again on the return flight from florida

b) what about mp3 players with a hard drive memory?

c) books - as far as i can tell they are now permitted on flights both sides of the atlantic...is this right?

thanks! Smile x

EDIT: Iam flying from Glasgow airport on the way out and return flight from orlando internationl airport.

i have checked the British airways website and the glasgow airport website and did not see anything regarding the above listed Frown

Pinksilk - you don't say where you are flying from - or what airports are involved.

I would start with the website for the airline you will be flying on; I've recently checked both the United and the British Airways sites in connection with upcoming travel, and they gave pretty specific information.

Another resource would be the website for the airport you will be travelling from.

I think the items you have listed are all OK now , but I would hesitate to make a blanket statement to that effect.

The other consideration is the amount of carry on baggage you are permitted to take -- and whether the items (cameras, batteries, etc) will fit in the allowable hand luggage.

Good luck.

We have a good page which summarizes the current restrictions both for US and UK travel. Initially electronics were banned but that was lifted. The biggest restrictions currently going to/from the UK are no liquids and only one item carried on. In the US, they will allow you one carry on bag and a purse or briefcase. To/From the UK just a bag, so you probably want to take one large bag so you can stuff all the electronics and other items you normally take.
