I am trying to get our Zia and Zio from Italy to the USA and back by boat. They refuse to fly. I have looked all over Slowtrav and it seems nobody actually travels slow. I have found Cunard Lines but have to think there must be more than one company that still has passenger service. Anyone have any help on this??

Many of the cruise lines offer cheap fares on their transatlantic repositioning cruises. I've not been on a these (or any other cruise) so that's the extent of my input but thought they were worth mentioning.
Good luck with your research!

If you really want to travel slow at sea take a freighter. Here is a website to start you off:
The Cruise People Ltd.

I thought I knew of a crossing on one of Holland America's ships going from Italy, but it turns out to be from Pireaus. But, you might want to look up that line and see if they show anything.

Also Princess and Costa, maybe RCI.

CruiseCritic.com would probably be the best resource for you, this time.

We have done two crossings, both starting in Lisbon. But if your family won't fly, even Lisbon won't work.

Good luck. Wendy

Just curious, once they arrive here, will you get them across this country via train? Man, how long a trip is that (from Italy to WA)?

The first time they came it was 1949 and they ended up in Toronto for 20 years. They took the boat both ways. Yes, they would take the train to Tacoma. It would be about a 12 day trip if they don't do any visiting along the way.

edited for spelling.
