I noticed a link on Twitter today to Google City Tours. Type in the city you wish to see, and 3-day walking tours are mapped out, with walking times, directions, and links, too.

Pretty cool stuff. The Philly tour was spot-on.

I tried Rome and much to my amazement, they were only able to come up with one day. Perhaps they are still working on some cities.

When I go to Google City Tours... I get mostly a blank page w/ the Google logo at the top...and the box to type in the city...but the page does not fully load.

I can type in a city... but then nothing happens.

Do I have to be logged into a Google account for this to work? Is there a special download that I need?

Google Maps is working fine for me... just the tours I am having a problem with.

Anyone know why?

Yes, this is still a work in process. It is one of the apps released by Google Labs which means it is an experimental application. I'm not certain if they will do more with it or not. Here is another article on it:

Karen - I don't have any idea why you don't see the map especially since google maps works for you. You don't need to be logged in. It may be an issue with some setting in your browser.

Marta... it definitely has to do w/ my Internet Explorer settings... as I just downloaded Firefox and can open City Tour in that browser just fine.
