Now, I'd expect temperatures in the high 30s in Italy, but I'm still quite a bit north of there. Much of the south of the UK experienced record highs, and Netherlands and Germany are not any cooler.
So I had a VERY hard time sleeping in my upstairs (under eaves) flat last night - I think the heat could have killed a very elderly person or one with a heart condition. I drank a whole litre of water, and didn't even have to get up to pee.
So I have nothing serious, but a nasty heat rash on my neck and between my thighs (yecch!)
I have of course experienced far hotter weather in Italy, but buildings are designed for it.

Last week we had the highest temp day of 46 degs c( thats about 115 F.) Its been hanging around the 40's for a couple of weeks now and will continue like this untill mid August. Its always like this here in Andalucia so you just have to live with it and use it to your advantage.
At the hottest part of the day go to bed for a siesta. If you have a partner then make love.(hehehehe)
Sleep untill the sun is less harsh and is about to dip below the horizon.
Then go out and enjoy the cooler evening. Its just about adapting to your environment.
Try almond oil as a base and lavender essential oil.
Cup your hand and pour on a little almond oil. add one or two drops of essential lavender oil. Mix it together with your finger and rub on your heat affected parts.(not internal use)
Make sure it is 100 percent essential lavender oil. not cheap flavoured and scented machine oil.
(If you are taking Clives advice and taking the siesta option just get your partner to rub in the almond oil...(its a good way to pass the time on a hot afternoon)
For the heat rash between your thighs try Lotimen (sp) (a fungicide for Athlete's foot). It is a non-prescription item in the USA. I don't travel anywhere without it. I am not sure about your neck. I have never gotten heat rash there.
