Westjet drops fuel surcharge! This article also talks about Air Canada's extra bag fee being dropped and their fuel surcharge removed. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
Heard on Southwest Airlines just after a very hard and bumpy landing in Salt Lake City: The flight attendant came on the intercom and said, "That was quite a bump, and I know what y'all are thinking. I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flight attendant's fault, it was the asphalt." Brenda
Well, this is sort of good news, but as the article states they are really just shifting the additional cost into the basic cost.....but I'll be watching carefully.
The really good news is that when it was a separate charge if you were using points you had to pay that along with the taxes, so now hopefully we'll only have to pay the taxes!
So yes, definitely at least some light at the end of the tunnel
Good news is when you see that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a freight train! I'm sure it will get pumped back into the fares in some way, but for now? I'm happy to see these good businesses doing this. Now, if only Westjet provided overseas flights...Paris, Rome, London...yum!
"This year, airlines will carry a record 143 million passengers, who will be in the air for 382 million hours, during which they will be fed an estimated total of four peanuts." ~ Dave Barry Brenda
