Because I am slow and need some help. If I use an ATM in Italy that does not have a relationship with my bank, will the bank of the ATM also charge me a fee.

So, do they getcha comin' and goin'?

We have never been charged a fee at an Italian bank when using the ATM. My understanding is that is illegal in Italy.

Teresa,
We arrived home 2 weeks ago. While in Italy we used 3 different ATM cards in Rome & Assisi.

Wachovia debit charged a $2.00 misc ATM fee & a 1% international service fee for each withdrawal.

Our regional National Bank debit charged $1.50 for each withdrawal.

E-trade financial debit charged nothing for each withdrawal.

We have never been charged by the Italian bank. If a relationship between banks exists, then our bank doesn't charge fees.

If no relationship exists, then a flat fee of $3 is charged. That's it!
