I'll be here at home, for a Christmas brunch with my daughter and her family and some friends at my house, then I'm leaving for Victoria to spend the rest of the week with my son, visiting friends who I haven't seen in a long time and walking along the water as often as I can.
Ironically, we usually have winter-winter weather here this time of year, and the people in Victoria are basking in gorgeous warm weather. This year, however, we are the ones doing the basking, while my friends in Victoria are burrowing out from under the storms and the winds that have been so devastating for Vancouver and Victoria and area this winter.
Travel safely, everyone...wherever you are going!
"Like snowflakes, my Christmas memories gather and dance - each beautiful, unique and too soon gone." ~ Deborah Whipp Brenda
Our family plus in-laws (and out-laws) all come together for lunch, some also stay for dinner and new ones usually arrive for dinner after having spent lunch elsewhere.
This year it is at the home of my sister-in-law's sister-in-law, Robyn. Robyn is also a very good friend of ours, having grown up with my husband since childhood. So that is where the 'out-law' part comes in.
There will be close to 30 people. Next year will be our turn again.
Boxing day, we have a breakfast come brunch at our home for the horse trainers who have their horses stabled with us.
This year we expect 3 trainers and their wives, plus our family and that will bring the total for breakfast to 10.
Then I will probably relax with a good book (or doze off) for most of the next day.

Hi, Brenda. I left you a note on your Victoria post regarding the Damremont apt.
We are spending a quiet Christmas here in our Paris apartment. We left a big family in California who will be having Christmas dinner at Mom's as usual - some 40 plus members.
I think that I will be roasting pheasant (unless we change our minds when we go out shopping later). I have never had pheasant before but we are "game" to trying new things. We had pigeon for the first time in Sarlat in the spring and pintade (guinea fowl) just the other day.
Happy Christmas and a wonderful new year to all.

I will be rested on the way back home monday night.its only about a 2H45m drive. i posted food and drinks at the foodies thread.
I don't have to go very far...My wife and I are spending Christmas eve with my sister and her family this year and she only lives a couple of kilometers away from me here in Stavanger. We will have the traditional Christmas meal ribbe (pork ribs) and opening presents as usual in the evening
We have just moved to Maine and for the first time in 35+ years will not be celebrating Christmas in New Orleans. We'll be visiting friends in Rockland and are looking forward to new traditions for our new home.

Home, just south of Boston, for us and the extended family, possibly admiring a diamond on my daughter's hand? Once the day is over, I go back to packing for Cambodia, a 3 week trip starting Jan 2nd! Looks like it will be snow-free this year for us but at least the heating bills are down!

We will be at home in Queenscliff (near Melbourne) with extended family. We have a traditional meal with turkey, ham and roast pork and roast vegetables. Also a plum pudding. We start with oysters and prawns. Lots of Australians go to the beach or to parks with a picnic. This week we have had temperatures of 39c (102f) and tomorrow expect 16c (60f) so a big difference. The forecast says snow on the mountains which is very unusual. The coldest Christmas Day in 70 years. We usually set the table outside on the deck but tomorrow will be inside. Not beach weather and cold for the people camping for their beach holidays. One of our daughters is living in New York and will be having Christmas with friends. We will miss her but am sure she will have a wonderful time.
Ours will be a family lunch with the three sisters and their offspring and their offspring gathered around a table groaning with all good things.
We like to start with an antipasto table - 15 different dishes with the Italian touch to choose from. And then we go on from there to other delicacies all washed down with some splendid Australian reds.
This year Claire won't be with us because she's in Perugia with her zii and cugini feasting on the delicious capelletti which took her Zia Silvana (fantastic cook!) two whole days to make and capon stuffed with chestnuts and sausage.
We'll miss her and send her our love and greetings.
christmas eve..and all is well. here at home in certaldo.. with the cats.. food prepared basically for three days.
I big bollito misto, half a smoked salmon... I made bagels! we bought our panettone at our local pastry shop.. and we are in for the holidays..
Andrea's only brother is with his kid, and grand kid.. and the in-laws, and the house is really too small for any more people.. so we are home.. probably adopting a friend who is going through a divorce...and feeding him!
the all time cure!
BEst wishes.. don't over eat... and enjoy! 2007 is the year of the pig!
A Buon Natale to all as we head up the hill to the Grand Canyon. I'm having trouble with my digital so cross your fingers that I will be able to get some pics.
Elly- well no not really- very, very nice guy but he makes very little money and is not ambitious. I would hate to see them live always worrying about money. We'll see how it flies. She's only 22.5, he's 28 so he's more inclined to move things along I think. Oh well, I'm digressing from this board but thanks for asking and good luck with your own daughter! Happy Holidays and Traveling in 2007!!!Karen
