I just thought I'd post a quick (?) update to my previous topic on my husband's knee injury and our travel plans. So many people had just great suggestions to cope and have enquired.
Very unexpectedly, the surgeon's office called about 10 days ago and stated that our Provincial WCB had called them and requested that he "fit" an appointment to review hubby's knee into his schedule!! Miraculously we went from a one year + wait to 3 days. When we phoned WCB, they stated that they do not believe that this will be a WCB claim, but without the surgeon's report, they could not actually turn us down??? So, for whatever reason, he jumped up a year in the queue.

During this wait, his knee has been improving, very slowly. This, according to the surgeon, is a sign that perhaps a 2nd surgery is not his best option.......perhaps just more therapy and cortisone. However without an MRI, he could make no firm diagnosis. So, rather than wait until the earliest date of Nov 26th for an MRI, we decided to bite the bullet and pay for a private test.........cost $1,000.

The results are now at the specialist's and another appointment is scheduled for Thursday to discuss it. Amazing how once you are in the system, things happen, such as a quick 2nd appointment. But I'm not complaining.
So, all told, it has turned out to be a middle of the road result. The downside is the mounting costs, particularly with WCB's potential refusal of a claim.
However, the upsides far outweigh that. His knee appears to be improving, he managed to get in to see a surgeon in a reasonable length of time and achieved some piece of mind. And no matter what..........our trip in September is not on hold!!!!!

Oops - maybe I should have been more excited about his knee improving, than the trip being confirmed??
