We are flying Easy Jet from CDG to LIS in about three weeks. Reading their website this morning, there was a statement about no carry on baggage allowed in France. The information was not clear about this being related to destinations in the U.K., or being a general prohibition. I have not heard of any problem with carry on items in France, and Easy Jet is not at all easy with which to communicate. Did I just misread this announcement, or does France really ban carry ons. Appreciate any information, thank you.

Luggage information from Paris airports website

Your cabin bags

You can take hand luggage on board with you:
Maximum weight: 5 kg
Maximum dimensions: 115 cm (total of three dimensions L + W + H)

Per American Airlines American Airlines
Travel From Paris Charles de Gaulle
In order to reduce delays, American Airlines encourages customers to take as little hand luggage as possible (no more than one piece) through the security checkpoints. Items must be in small, clear plastic bags, and my not contain Prohibited items.

I hope they let us check our standard carryon bag (which is now too big) without an extra charge

I am still confused. Frown
The size and weight restriction seems to prohibit anything but a small, lightweight nylon type of bag.

And the restricted items don't appear to be recently updated.
Will you still be able to take a purse or tote bag, besides this miniscule "carry on"?

Debra - I don't know about all carriers, but just checked British Airways, as we will be flying through London next month. Currently they allow only ONE small carryon. And the BAA webpage specifically says any purse or handbag must fit within the single carry-on bag.

Please note that the list of items not allowed in hand bagage on the airport web site was not updated since 27/07/2006.

My girlfriend's daughter just arrived Saturday on BA via Gatwick and they allowed her a carryon plus her purse, although they removed all her makeup out of her carry on.She had a standard sized carry on. The security lines were still pretty bad and for any Floridian flying out of Orlando..I understand the lines are horrific. My friends are saying allow at least 4 hrs.
