About 6 months ago I booked a 23 day trip to South africa/Botswana/Namibia with Djoser Travel. The itinerary listed on the website, and confirmed by an e-mail attachment last week, had us staying 3 nights apiece in 4 spots, 2 nights in a couple, and only a few one-nighters. When I finally got my list of hotels yesterday I see that we have NO 3 night stays, only 2 night stays in several of the game parks, and the rest are all one-nighters! That will be horrible! We'll spend almost the whole trip packing, getting the group together, and driving! I would never have booked this tour if I had seen the final itinerary first.

Do I have any recourse here? We leave in one week.

I'm sure the answer would be in the "fine print" of your confirmation paperwork or the T's + C's of the specific tour. Or, there may be an "out" if you have travel insurance, but I've never seen such an option on one of those policies.

If you do have travel insurance coverage already, you may be able to "gin up" a "covered reason" for canceling, assuming the tour company won't refund anything.

On the other hand: have you talked to the tour company or communicated with them yet, on all this? They may allow a cancellation and refund, but may keep your deposit, or charge a stipend for doing so, who knows?

Good luck, hope it works out in your favor...

A similar scenario happened to a group (of 7) that I helped organize some three years ago.... different destinations - Paris area. The tour group / company changed itinerary on us. It was not very last minute though. The company just wanted us to merge with another group; with different destination, which we did not really plan on visiting. We got all of our money back and we went without that organized tour. We ended up saving some money... "touring" on our own. We went to pretty much the same places as initially intended.
