Premium travel airline EoS stopped its schedule yesterday after failing to restructure.

Argh!! First MaxJet, now EOS! I was saving my AMEX miles to use with EOS this year.

New York Times Article - Eos Airlines to Stop Flying by Monday

EOS Airlines

Their logo is EOS. Uncrowded. Uncompromising. Unairline. - I guess they really are an Unairline now.

That's bad to hear. The airline industry really is dropping.

Purely as a debate, were any of these "business class only" airlines ever going to work? As most BC passengers arn't spending their own money, I presume they don't really care to suffer the inconvenience of Luton or Stanstead just to save a couple of thousand dollars.

Tim,

The family I work for - they live in London while I'm in NYC - flew Eos exclusively for personal travel back and forth between Stanstead and JFK. You are right...Stanstead wasn't as convenient, but what made up for it was the family could carry on and check in more luggage than on other airlines and they didn't have to show up hours in advance of their departure times. Also, each passenger had his own private area with a seat that folded open to a flat bed. I know other airlines offer than option, but try trying to check in more luggage than the limit.

I loved dealing with this airline because of their outstanding customer service. When I inquired about the luggage rule, I was told that if the passengers ever wanted to bring on more luggage than the limit, then they just had to call Eos to let them know. If there was space because the flight wasn't full, then the passengers could have extra luggage at no extra charge.

I will add that the family got a great discount from the husband's employer, but he got that on the other major carriers on that route too.

It's sad to see the demise of a company that did so much right.

Silverjet is posting losses but

suggests they should be okay.

That's good news! I hope it tides them over at least until after my trip! Eek
And what I don't get is that the tickets are priced less than a 1st class ticket on BA or Virgin.....
