I'd been on the proverbial fence since I registered for this trip way back whenever that was. I received an email from Kathy (kaydee) this evening and though I'd received others before hers assuring me that I should come, it was tonight's email that did the trick and gave me the impetus that I needed to send in my 175 bucks, make my flight reservations and most importantly make A decision and I decided to come. I look forward to researching this site for information about Savannah, as well as any other sites people may have to suggest. I am also interested in sharing a hotel room, perhaps in one of the inns or hotels listed here. So, I'm in!

Thanks, Leslie. I look forward to meeting you too, though It befuddles me to think how I am going to meet the people I'm meeting online. Will we be a small enough group to actually meet most everyone?

Great decision, Sherril.

I promise, you won't be sorry you "took the plunge". We all have stories about our friends' and family members' reactions to us meeting (or flying across the country in order to) people we "know online". Happy

This is a safe, friendly, welcoming crowd! It will be a wonderful weekend! I'll see you in Savannah!

Hi Sherril! Glad you can join us in Savannah.

You'll make a lot of new friends with a common interest. I enjoyed perusing your blog, especially your thoughts on WWII, and of course, To Hell and Back With Dante! Your pictures were wonderful.

I look forward to meeting you....we'll find you so don't worry!

Hi Sherril,

I too am glad you made the choice to come. This is going to be my first GTG, I have been posting on here for about a year a half. I tell you, some of these people on here, feel like my best friends, and I have not met one of them YET!! Big Grin My feeling is, this is not just an "online chat room" This is a group of very friendly, wonderful people, who all share the love of slow travel, willing to help, give friendly advice, to the most naive new comer (such as I once was) and make them feel so welcome. I am so excited to get to Savannah, and finally meet and put faces to all the names, that over this past plus year, that have helped me plan a first trip to Italy, who have sometimes, brought tears to my eyes, and more times than I can count, have made me laugh right out loud, sitting here at my computer. Was it serendipity that I stumbled on to this web site, what ever it was , I am so happy that I did.

I know you will have a great time. I look forward to meeting you in Savannah.

Sandra

When I arranged to meet people I had "met on line" at an actual face-to-face meeting, everybody I knew was absolutely appalled to think that I was going off to Atlanta to have dinner with a bunch of people I had met on line.

Turned out to be one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had. I made friends there that I would never have otherwise and we all have a common interest -- travel.

Go for it, girl!

Thanks to Sandra, Earline, Gail, Palma and Brenda for your welcoming remarks. I plan to post more once I get myself situated, i.e. make a hotel reservation. I think I will make the reservation first and then see if anyone wants to share the room. I will be coming in on Friday and leaving on Tuesday evening.

I'm not really the "newbie" I appear to be. I have become well acquainted with the ways of the internet and have met many people from this venue. And I look forward to meeting all of you. I remember reading somewhere on the posts to wear beads to the airport so as to recognize fellow GTG-ers. So, I plan to wear the beads I got in New Orleans, as well as from one of the hotels in Las Vegas I will return to read more of the posts.

Again, Thanks,
Sherril
