One of ST's favorite members, Pokey, is in desperate need of new cutlery.

We all know and love Pokey and hate to see her suffer this way.

I'm willing to take charge of this worthy cause and will accept payment via check, cash, credit card (with a scan of your passport), and/or PayPal.

I'm hoping you great STers will come through in time to give Pokey a fork or 2 at the Great Slow Travel Gathering this weekend.

I'm starting a blog called Give Pokey a Fork! as soon as Kim gets it up.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I've heard Mindy mention her fork situation. It is very sad. I'll certinly visit the blog Give Mindy a Fork! and give what I can.

However, we don't want to divert attention away from my son's noble quest to study Italian and study in Italy in College which will shortly be documented in his new blog, Dan Eats Italy. Those of you who have seen Dan eat know of this hardship.

You know, if I were a man, I'd have something to say about that....but that's another topic.

Anyway, it's done : Give Pokey a Fork. So feel free to comment here or on the blog!

Geez, I'm so sorry to hear this about Pokey.

When was the last time she had a fork?

I can barely type what with the tears flowing down my cheeks. You guys are the BEST Not Worthy

It's been years since I've had a really good fork Frown I do prefer my forks with long tines. Wink Grin

I could also use a slotted spoon if you're feeling extra generous.

Thank you all so much! (I'm at work trying to sneak in this post...).

Mindy,

Maybe one of Paula Deen's cute sons could help you out in Savannah? We'll introduce you!

Southern food AND a fork or two!!!

First a fork, then a slotted spoon. Pretty soon we'll have collected enough for a really nice ladle.

Pokey ~

Really good news! I just finished scouring the Internet about forks in Savannah, and came up with this valuable info:

There's Ye Olde Forke Shoppe right smack dab in the Historic District, and coincidentally, next door to Ye Olde Spoone Shoppe and Ye Olde Knife Shoppe, too. How convenient!

I also happened to find another place called Forking Around, but that's a little closer to the airport - not sure if that is helpful or not.

Finally (!!!) there's a cute place to stay called The Old Fork Inn - on their website they say that all guests are welcome to their forks! Like, wow!

Hope this helps!

From your mouth to god's ears, Marian. We can only hope.

We're doing really well, folks! Let's help Pokey dry those tears. Mammograms are uncomfortable enough without a weeping tech.

Maybe what we also need is a lapel pin, something in a nice shade of tarnished silver, so that the world might know about this fork fundraiser? Perhaps Ryan Seacrest could mention it on the Idol Gives Back show next week?

Meanwhile, Marian, I would be happy to donate to the ladle fund - after awhile that fork stuff gets old.

Well, I know that Pokey is in real need and I am very sympathetic with her and will most certainly contribute to the cutlery fund; however, I am quite resentful of the special attention she is getting when so many of us have needs not being addressed.

Let's see: Wendy needs more ice in Pacific Grove; Marian could really use a nice drying rack to augment her very efficient dryer; Amy could use a collection of tire pumps for those times when she is on the road; Tourmama always needs tour books to help her plan choir trips; Palma needs dishes-always; poor Jerry has run out of shovels and I, Jane, need babysitters. Of course, there are many more but I must go pack for Savannah now.

So, whomever is in-charge of these fund raising drives, please be equitable and fair in your choice of recipients.

Thank you, Jane, for thinking of the rest of us.

I personally need a new screen door. Do you know what it's like to try to get some fresh air in your house without letting all the bugs in? Then as soon as your cats spot them they charge around like little wild beasts, knocking over lamps, digging their claws into the sofa, and tearing up the carpet. Soon I'll need a new sofa, more lamps, and new carpet. Thank you.

If I may be so bold as to request help for myself, I need topsoil to fill in the sinkholes on my property. One of the cats fell in two days ago and hasn't been seen since. PM me for my mailing address. My most humble thanks.

I'd like to speak for the under represented people with white, pasty legs. We need sun! And a little time off work so we can bask in the sun while drinking something with an umbrella sticking out of it.

And just think of the benefit to the rest of the population once we all have bronzed legs a la Palma! Cool

Krista,

I think I can help you with the bronze leg issue. You people are so naive. Do you really think I have nothing better to do than soak up the desert sun on my raft in that disgusting 87 degree pool? That lovely mocha tone comes from COFFEE, COFFEE and more COFFEE flowing through my veins.

Maybe we could try "Baking while baking with KHB and Palma"

Well, I saw Mindy in Savannah this weekend, and I am happy to tell you all that she definitely got forked while she was there. This was most heartening to all of us who are so concerned about her, and by the look on her face, well, you be the judge!
