I know there is a group that is having dinner at the Mansion after the steering committee's wine and cheese gathering on April 3rd. I thought I would just go with the flow and see what develops for other dinner plans that night. Upon futher thought that may not be such a good idea, especially if there is more than a few people that would like to grab a bite to eat together. Not to mention trying to make dinner plans for a group after a few glasses of wine. Wine Roll Eyes

So being a bit of a compulsive planner and a foodie, I am thinking that Cha Bella may be a good choice. It's organic and they have small plates as well as yummy sounding entrees that probably would fit most people's budget and tastes(plus I have read some great reviews). As Thursday is the only unplanned dinner in Savannah for me ayway, I'd like to go somewhere memorable. Anyone else who hasn't made plans interested in this option? Here is their website. I would be happy to make reservations for 8 pm for anyone who would like to have dinner here. Or, I am open to other suggestions from the steering committee or fellow STs attending the party who have researched restaurant options.

Hey Roomie!! Wink Grin
Thank you for starting this thread! Cha Bella does look good, although I've been thinking about either Jazz'd Tapas Bar or some good 'ole Southern Barbecue! Decisions decisions! But, you know me, I'll go wherever, so put me on the "maybe" list. I don't want to end up in some bar all by myself Eek Garlic Man
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

a presto!

Colleen,

Doyle and I may very well be interested; Cha Bella looks very enticing. I hadn't planned on going to The Mansion because I'm sure I wouldn't want too much to eat by then. (We'll be having lunch in Savannah also that day.) I was just going to play it by ear as well.

Do you think they would mind if all I had was one of their delicious sounding "small plates" and a salad?

Ann-I'm sure that the small plates and salad is a perfectly acceptable option and one of the reasons this restaurant appeals to me.

Mindy- I love BBQ too and found this interesting link about some tradtional and off the beaten track spots to also consider. The Jazz'd spot looks like fun too but may be too noisy to have a conversation with the live band. Lots of choices-we still have some time to decide. So let's mull it all over a bit.

Colleen,

I had thought about going to the Jazz'd Tapas Bar also, but it is a bit further away (west) than some of the other places. Another possibility is Skyler's Restaurant in the East Bay Inn. I had read some very good reviews of Skyler's, and it is close to many of the other E. Bay St. hotels. It's also quite reasonable.

Thanks for that link Ann. Well, after a some more research, I really can't find anything that appeals to me as much as Cha Bella. Two of those great sounding appetizers sounds like a perfect meal to me! So if you are all still interested, I will go ahead and make a reservation for 6 people at 8 pm. I'm counting you and your husband in Ann as well as Roz and Mike and Mindy. If you have decided on something else, no problem. If anyone else wants to join us, please let me know by this weekend. Can't wait! Pig Wine Big Grin

Colleen, I agree with you that Cha Bella sounds great. I have to admit that (although my family roots are in the South), I am not crazy about traditional Southern cooking (too much fat and sugar for me), so thanks for sussing out this place, with its somewhat lighter fare. Mike and I will be looking forward to it!

Yes, count us in, Colleen. Those "small plates" look good to me as well.

Your comment about traditional Southern cooking is one of my concerns as well, although my MIL's cooking wasn't all that rich. I'm supposed to be on a low-carb, low-fat diet, so I'll have to be inventive while in Savannah, especially since we'll be there from April 1.

See y'all then!

Hi, Colleen,
Please count us in for Cha Bella (2 - Kevin Clark and I) as well, if it's not too late. We've always enjoyed your restaurant reviews, and found that we generally enjoy the places that you do, so this is bound to be a good place! Smile

Thanks for organizing this!
