Our daughter Kelly is extremely interested in architecture (actually Charley and I are too), and Savannah is a great place to see very unique American architecture. We thought we would like to do an architectural tour of Savannah, and I found this company that offers walking tours focuses on Savannah's architecture. I've exchanged e-mails with the young architect (a SCAD graduate) who runs the tours, and I think we will do this on either Friday or Saturday afternoon.

We could do one of the public tours, but I wanted to see if anyone else would like to join us. If we have six or more (we are three), we could have a private tour. The price would be $20 for an adult and $10 for a student. We're flexible for either day, depending on who else would like to be involved.

Here's what Jonathan wrote:

"The tour I give the most starts in Washington Square and ends in Telfair Square. It is presented in a chronological storyline from the oldest to newest buildings and incorporates many themes in Savannah such as SCAD's restoration work here. Generally it takes about 90 minutes but with lots of questions it is sometimes closer to 2 hours."

We could potentially start around 3 pm and finish up in time to get ready for the evening event.

Since April is one of the busiest months in Savannah, I need to make arrangements soon if we have enough for a private tour. Anyone interested?

Kathy

Thanks for looking into this option, I always think that architecture is one of the best ways to learn about the history of a place and its people. -- Janie

I think that we would be interested, too, but probably more on Friday than Saturday. When you decide which day, I will have a better idea.

Kaydee, that sounds like something I would love to do. And since Cal is with me, he would have to do it also! Happy Count us in. We are flexible on the time -- whatever works best for everyone else. (Is this going to be just after the cemetery tour? That could be a deciding factor!)

Kathy,

I'm definitely interested. Although I have a slight preference for Friday, either day should work.

Thanks for organizing this!

It sounds like we have at least six of us who would be interested-- great! I'm trying to set something up for Friday afternoon at 3 pm.

I'll post back when I know something more.

Kathy, I'd be interested. We probably both would be, but I'm just not sure how much continuous walking I could do, even with my walking stick stool, and I wouldn't want to slow everyone else down. So I probably couldn't commit to advance arrangements. Sounds good, though.

Ann, you could get one of those with the little colorful plastic car as the front part of the cart. That should make quite an impression on the natives, don't you think? Eek

I've confirmed plans for a private architectural walking tour on Friday afternoon, April 4 beginning at 3 pm. The cost will be $20 per person ($10 for any students). We do need to cap the group size at 20 people so everyone can hear.

This is the list of who I think has expressed interest:

1. Kaydee
2. Charley
3. Kelly
4. Janie
5. Marcia
6. David
7. Joan (cubbies)
8. Earline
9. Cal
10. Terry (teaberry)
11. Sharon
12. Colleenk
13. Ann (paceaj)
14. Doyle
15. kendall
16. Brenda (BGE)
17. Leslie Erickson
18. Brent
19. Riley

I've listed everyone who expressed interest, knowing that the timing may affect the involvement of some. Let me know if I should take you off the list-- or if you want to be added. At this point we'd have room for at least five one more.

I think this will be fun-- and good exercise too!

Kathy

Me, too! Count me in.
Thanks for arranging this, Kathy.
Some of us are hoping to meet Jean for lunch on Friday at noon, so we can get together for the walking tour at 3:00 P.M. with you.

I called my builder this morning and he said he is in Savannah for a week! How envious was I? He also raved about how incredibly beautiful Savannah is, and as a builder, how amazing it is for him to see the architecture. So, I'll bring my Privos and walk along with you!

Looks like we should have spoken up earlier! Kathy, please put Steve and I on your waiting list. We will be at the Presidents Quarters B&B. Probably we'll check in around noon.
If the group is too large for us, we'll just walk around on our own with a written guide of some kind.

Hi Kathy!

Please add me to the waiting list Big Grin Somehow I missed this thread. I am realizing that it's only 3 months away, so was checking things out this evening. I'm also going to see about getting added onto the Tea lunch with Jean (arranged by Brenda).

Thank you and can't wait to meet you in person!
