The room block that we have for Staybridge Suites Savannah at the special rate of $145.00 per night will expire on March 4, 2008.
What this means is that the rooms that have been reserved for the Slow Travel group will be released to the general public and our special rate will no longer be available.
If you are considering staying at this property, I urge you to make a reservation before March 4th.
This is a repeat performance post. I figure the more places I post it, the better the chance someone will see it and repond. I have gone ahead and made a reservation at the Staybridge Suites in Historic Savannah, where several other of the group are staying. Since I am staying on AFTER the Gathering, I had to make the reservation for two different prices. The first two nights (Friday and Saturday) will be $145/night and the second two nights will be $198.99/night. When the rates are combined, it turns out to be $172/night or a mere $86/night if two people share the suite for the four nights. I took a room with two Double Beds, Non-smoking. The reservation is for April 4, 5, 6 and 7 (Friday through Monday nights). I am leaving on the 8th. If someone was also staying beyond Sunday, that would be my preference. If not, someone could share for the two nights (Fri. and Sat.) for $290 before the hotel's cut-off date for the special rate ($145/night) or $344 if the decision is after the cut-off date, March 4th. I hope to hear from you soon.
Here's another alternative, similar to Sherril's. As we are arriving early (on April 1), we couldn't use the ST rate for the entire time. Instead, as AAA members, we requested their rate for a double for the length of our stay, and got the following: $128.99 per night for Tues. through Thurs., and $171.99 per night for the weekend. If you do the math, you'll see that it averages out to just over $146/night (without taxes), or nearly the same as the special rate. We'll also have to pay an additional $12./day for our car, though (but, then, again, that's cheaper than flying).
Just a friendly Monday reminder. If by chance you have not reserved your room for Savannah and you are thinking of staying at Staybridge Suites- the special Slow Travel rate expires tomorrow and the rooms that are blocked will be released to general public.
Have a great day everyone! Can't wait to meet all of you.
