I just found out about three new rentals in Savannah in a great location at Washington Square. These three cottages are right next door to the big house our planning team is renting together for the Gathering weekend. We will be there Thursday to Sunday (three nights), so if anyone rents one of these other places, they will be our neighbors! This is a great location-- quiet but extremely convenient.

The cottages are owned and were recently renovated by Marie Booker of Savannah. I spoke to Marie last Friday. She said the restoration was just complete and she has just started renting. Her own website won't be up yet for about a month.

There are three cottages, which are as described on the Savannah Getaways website (an agency/reservation service) and you can see photos there-- look at the three Pomegranate cottages. Marie has offered our group a 10% discount if rentals are booked directly with her. (The discount would not be available through the agency site.) Call Marie at 912.441.2852. This is high season in Savannah, but she said she could do a three night minimum stay for us.

The Queen and Captain cottages are in an historic building dating to 1860, each with separate entrances. The Queen is all open and she was very enthusiastic about it. It rents for $255 a night, less our 10% discount. The Captains Cottage has a living room and separate bedroom; it rents for $225 a night, less the discount. The Captains Cottage has a sleeper sofa too. The Princess cottage is in a newer building around the side of the property. There is a living room (with sleeper sofa) and a separate bedroom. This rents for $195, less the 10% discount.

The three cottages share a big courtyard (shown in the photos on the Getaway site). Marie provides everything for a continental breakfast. (It is left in the kitchens, not served.) Linens and towels are included.

It would really be fun if these cottages were rented by Slow Travelers-- there will be 12 of us in the house/carriage house next door! If you call Marie, tell her you are with the Slow Travel group and that she told Kathy Wood you could get a 10% discount!

(The Savannah Getaways site lists a couple of other rentals on Washington Square: here (sleeps 6) and here (also sleeps 6). It's really a special area.
