What is going on? I look on the webcam pictures and all I see are people talking, making friends, eating, drinking. Having 'fun' in other words. This will not do. Uh-uh No!

Where are the seminar rooms full of serious attendees, freshly sharpened pencils poised over note books, deciding on the definitive Slowtrav answers to such questions such as :

How to pack for a month long rental taking only one wheeled carry-on case ?

Currency queries - is it worth going long in the Mongolian tugrik, to later exchange for the euro at an advantageous rate, to fund my trip next year ?

Where are the special lecturers? I'm sure Willie Walsh, the head of BA, could have spared some time to give you tips about how to really get the best seat allocation - he certainly doesn't seem to be too busy running a major debacle airline at the moment.

We want results, we want learned papers.

Well, today we had a small seminar (Shannon, Chris and I) on some of the fine legal points of drinking in public in Savannah - basically, you can! Prosecco to go - I like this town.

Afterwards, we had a tornado siren drill. Well, not really - those clouds they were a swirlin!

The thunder and rain has stopped now and we need to go get dressed for our trolley ride to our alternate destination (fort cancelled due to the threat of thunder), for this evening's festivities.

Eventually, I'll get my act together enough to blog about this but that circuit city entries drained me.

How sad . . . these Canadians came to Savannah. There is a tornado siren, funnel cloud spotted, slow travelers hiding out in the basement, and we slept through the entire damn thing!

We have, however, been partaking of the 'drinking in public so long as it is in a plastic cup' law. There is a law I can get behind!

So you have taken the Savannah by storm!

Sorry, I know that was lame ... but someone had to say it!

Panda,
Shannon, Kim, Chris, Michael and I attended a lengthy seminar on the benefits of tea, the reasons for drinking tea as compared to the reasons for drinking anything booze-y...basically, the conclusion of our lengthy seminar on Broughton Street and further inside the Savannah Tea Room was that booze beats tea all holler, hands down, any time of the night or day! Shannon

Off to the evening at Old Fort Jackson, and then the Almost at Midnight in the Garden Very Scarey Frighten Your Panties Right Off Your Butt Ghost Tour! Eek Blushing

Yes, that's more like it - dedication to academic discussion, research to back up your hypothosis and an undisputable conclusion. Martini

Then followed by a field trip .

Well done - you're all getting full marks! (and could now probably qualify for some form of funding for another lengthy symposium (AKA a Great GTG) to which I will come!
