So glad Jan. Are you still working towards teaching?
I see I did start another thread a couple of months ago and you and Terry 'signed up' then. I hope the others who said yes are still in too.
Maybe that thread should be removed so as not to conflict.
FYI, this will not be a hard class - unless y'all want it that way. And remember, not all exercises are for all bodies, just because you take the session doesn't mean you have to do all the exercises or all the repitions, though no exercise is done more than 5-6 times and often only once or twice. As I've said in the past I love to share and can adapt accordingly. I will probably put out a short questionaire beforehand so I can come prepared. Back issues I know about, scoliosis -sp- also, but I always like to know about ones body and any possible issues and modifications to be suggested.
I am a minds eye person, so my cues are very visual. With this group I think using cooking will work just fine, as I tend to do in my regular classes. Turkey basters, rolling pins and pasta or bread, saute pans and pats of butter....
This is going to be loads of fun. I for one am really looking forward to the group Pilates class.
See you there.

I'm in! If my apartment living room or the outdoor patio area would work, you are welcome to share it with me for the class, Wendy. I think it is a fairly roomy apartment, so let me know if you want to consider that. It also would depend on how many people are attending the class. What a great thing you are offering, Wendy! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us!

Morning Brenda, of course I will consider your home, inside or out. But we will have to see how many do actually want to attend. Actually, yours is the location I am considering as a first choice.
Like all of you, I am really looking forward to the class.

Wendy, I'll be in Savannah earlier than most, as I'm booked in for 11 days, so I will e-mail you about the size and layout of the area, once I arrive. In desperation, we can take our Pilates mats to the Forsythe Garden and do our mat work around the huge fountain there!
"Man should bear in mind and ponder over the Greek admonition - Not Too Much, Not Too Little." ~ Joseph Pilates Brenda
The dialog going through my head has been 'WHAT are people going to use under them to cusion and protect? Towels, the carpet, or grass if we are outside on level ground. How are we going to have mats?'
I'd like to say if at all possible I'd like everyone to have some sort of mat to protect your spine. You are all very resourceful people, so please think what will work for you.
Rob and I are considering shipping, via UPS or DHL, our suitcase to the hotel and I just realized I could ship my thick mat. Since we are continuing on by car to Ft.Laud. and then a cruise I could use my mat on the ship and we are driving home when we disembark, so hey throw it in the trunk.
Just food for thought... Speaking of food, we are looking forward to the food in Savannah...

That would be great if you would / could bring a mat or two. I really do think I will send my Avirex mat ahead.
And no, our travel plans are that we are flying into Savannah, then taking Mon./Tues. in "someplace" Florida - it is looking like St. Augustine - then driving to Ft. Laud. for two nights, then doing a trans Canal passage into Los Angeles. Slow days, nothing to do but enjoy the clock go tick, tick, tick.
I like things slow and Pilates is one of them. We may not get a lot of exercises done, but hopefully the idea will be stronger and each move will be a strong imprint into your mind and bodies memory.

I wanted to bring this thread up a bit and bounce something off you...
I was thinking, with needing to be ready and at Paula Deen's for lunch by 12:15 on Sat. and the late night tour Sat. night maybe Fri. morning would be a better morning for our Mat Class.
Honestly, I don't know what would work best for everyone?
Thoughts anybody?

Works for me...would you like to meet at my apartment? I think there's room, and I'm going early so I can let you know, after I check it out. Sounds like a perfect way to start the day.
Hmmmm, how about a light breakfast at my place before the class, say 8:30 A.M.? Fruit and yoghurt, fresh muffins from Back in the Day Bakery, fresh OJ...anything else that would be nice? I'll have to eat before class for sure...keeps my blood sugar happy... so I'd love to feed everyone, if you'd like to be my guests!

's easy, I love breakfast...my favorite meal! I'll keep in touch to know how many people will be able to come for a luscious snack before class, and make sure I have all of the bells and whistles available for all.
Wendy, would the class be open to anyone who hasn't been active in Pilates yet? Someone who might have thought about trying it, but not been able to find a class, yet? Or is it better if people have some knowledge of Pilates?

There is a slight chance I may have to spend that morning with my family. They are not planning to come to the Gathering but MAY be there coincidentally, for my daughter to look at Armstrong Atlantic University.
