I'm in the process of getting rooms for the SlowTrav Gathering. I just chatted with a friendly woman named Carly at Presidents Quarters and I made a reservation there. She gave me some info that I thought you might like-
They have new owners, and they no longer own the annex that is mentioned on our site. They are doing a major renovation - updating the rooms and putting in new bathrooms. They will complete this renovation in the fall, well before our event. She said that they were pretty much wide open in April, and she was not aware of any other SlowTrav guests. She gave me the 10% discount.
Some of the other accomodations mentioned are booked.

I booked us into the President's Quarters today and also spoke with Carly. Their queen suites, with sitting area and sofa bed) are only $7.00 more than a queen room. Carly also told me that
the rates will go up in the fall once the renovations are complete. (Now, I have to cancel Hampton Inn). 10% ST discount, also 7 day cancellation policy. 'Can't wait!

Nancy, I too am really pleased with this reservation and hopeful that it will be as nice as it looks and sounds. We will no doubt see you there, and hopefully a few other ST people.

Thanks for the update! The President's Quarters is in a wonderful location and I am sure you will not be disappointed, especially since it is being renovated.

All the Best,

Leslie

We have a room at Pres. Qtr.too. We got the 10% discount too, assisted by the same friendly Carly (from New York I believe, and a resident for about 1 year--she loves Savannah!) Will be checking in April 2--see you and Nancy there, or at the informal Cocktail gathering Thursday! Karen and Mac Joanna's Dancing Man

I missed this thread back in August.

I booked the Reagan Room 105 at The President's Quarter on April 5 2007 -- nearly a year ago. I paid a deposit of $236.17.

This morning I checked their website. There is no Room 105. I phoned them and learned that they have new owners and that they don't own Room 105 anymore.

It is owned by 17hundred90. I phoned them. They confirmed that I do have a reservation. I asked if I could come a day early (arrive on Thursday). They said that their website is in the process of being updated and Room 105 is not listed there yet. But no problem - and we'll send you a confirmation by email. I am awaiting its arrival.

I don't know if any other rooms were affected by this change in ownership, but thought I would share my experience.

It feels somewhat weird to not be able to see the actual room on a website. Perhaps it is the haunted room?

Yeeps, Marion!
What a scare...you've booked this room that no longer exists. Sounds like the beginning of a great Stephen King story! Eek

I'm happy you are coming to Savannah and even happier that you have a real room to stay in. Wine Good thing that you checked on this.

“People think that I must be a very strange person.
This is not correct.
I have the heart of a small boy.
It is in a glass jar on my desk.” ~ Stephen King
