Ginger, I just looked up the Hilton DeSoto in my guidebook. It is on East Liberty Street "in the midst of the Historic district." My book says the views from the upper floor rooms are "spectacular," if you happen to have one of those! Unless you want to get away from the historic district (like to go to Tybee Island or some other more distant location), you don't need a car. Savannah is an extremely walkable city-- and a little awkward for driving and parking. (In fact, my guidebook says you'd pay $10 to park at the Hilton.) You can take a shuttle from the airport. There is a free trolley for transportation within the historic distriction-- there's a thread about that somewhere. Your hotel is about ten blocks to the river, so you can walk to our pre-gathering gathering on Thursday night (hope you'll be there!), and you could also walk to Vic's on Sunday morning. The Gingerbread House is too far on Friday night, and not a good idea after dark-- but you can take a cab, as many people are. (There's a thread going somewhere if you want to try to share.) We have trolleys going to the Fort on Saturday night. I'm looking forward to seeing you and Craig next weekend! Kathy

Ginger~ we had commented earlier (somewhere) that we hadn't heard from you. Glad to hear that y'all will be there. I agree that you'll be fine at the Hilton without a car. Now we'll just hope that the weather holds out! Sandi
