Just finally got a chance to catch up on the last couple of episodes.
I think another series is a big mistake. It just doesn't seem right to me.
Beebee, I agree that the second series got a little silly at times (the "wife-swap" episode treaded dangerously close to jumping-the-shark territory, imho), but there were other things I thought the producers got better at. The use of music springs to mind; I thought they did a much better job of evoking things with just the right period song in series 2.
Life on Mars means we now have two time-warp series. It is interesting that I can recall 1973 while it is history for my son. The other time-warp series is "good night Sweetheart" with some "doorway" through which a bloke goes to WWII times.
Our TV reception went haywire from a storm so I missed the end of Spooks. What happened to them all?

Whatever the final outcome, I suspect it was as improbable and inscrutible as the rest of it. I gave up on Spooks half way through the series on the basis that human beings are only meant to suspend disbelief for so long...
On the other hand, I quite liked Goodnight Sweetheart. Maybe because it didn't take itself too seriously.

I think PatrickLondon must be a series (or 2) ahead.... He's right though, there was much "high drama"! Adam was shot by Angela (obviously survives for another series!)and we were left with Harry in her gun sights.
Beebee, one of the things I like best about Spooks is that fine line between reality & disbelief.

The promos make it look interesting don't you think? I always thought Gene Hunt's character was the best one from Life on Mars so I'm glad he's carrying one into the new series.

I just watched Ashes to Ashes and was a bit disappointed. I will give it at least one other go. I didn't think the Gene Hunt character translated well into the 80s - he was a dinosaur in the 70s and is looking even more out of place in the 80s setting. One policeman transferring to the Met is okay but a whole team transferring and staying together makes it unreal.
I was a bit surprised when Life On Mars ended and it was announced that there would be a sequel entitled Ashes to Ashes. I was convinced that it would never live up to Life On Mars. How wrong I was!
I thought Ashes to Ashes was almost better than the original. The characterization was brilliant, and the working relationship between Gene and Alex amazing.
