Hi guys
I have a friend who will be spending a semester in London and I can't seem to find an ISP for her ...... is it possible that AOL does not have access numbers in London?
Any help ........
Either post or email direct
Thanks

Steve, I found an AOL access number for England:
UNITED KINGDOM (44) 0845 0790003, 57.6, $3.95, AOLnet
WARNING! Phone Charges Apply

From AOL, go to keyword ACCESS and click the link for International numbers.

We used Earthlink access numbers when we were in England, but as with AOL, you pay a per hour surcharge when using them. It would be best to find a free ISP in England.

AOL is definitely in England - I believe Pauline has given you the correct access number (be sure she programs her computer before she leaves).

However, AOL costs a small fortune to operate with any regularity from overseas. The cost of the local phone calls (I'm not SURE England charges for each local phone call, but I think so - all other European countries Í've visited do), plus the AOL surcharges, given that it will probably be a (slow) dial-up connection, can add up incredibly.

I use my laptop when I'm at my house in France to keep running my business while I'm away. It's not unusual for me to spand $800 for a month of AOL plus France Télécom charges, to give you some idea. Now, I am online a couple of hours every day at least and sometimes have business emergencies that require several hours of on-line time, but believe me, AOL is not cheap to use overseas.

Pauline is correct. Your friend should sign up with some free or cheap UK service while she's there, or just use Hotmail or Yahoo for e-mail. Even cybercafés are cheaper than AOL.
