Our family will have one night layover in London before flying home to the US. Part of our group fly out of Heathrow at 12:15pm and the others fly out of Gatwick at 11:00am. We thought it would fun to stay in London for the night and have dinner and walk around and see some of the city. But Where?? Is there somewhere convenient to both Paddington and Victoria? Any small hotels that won't break the bank?

You could try www.bb-belgravia.com - very close to Victoria, which is anyway not all that far from Paddington. That's the place that springs to mind - it's meant to be very good.

Hi,
Easy hotels have opened a branch in Victoria, I booked a couple of rooms recently for family. The rate for a double is 42 pounds per night. The rooms are basic but as the hotel is new they are spotless and the location is good.

What about the one MariaV works in? That is at Victoria and I think is reasonable in price. You would meet a Slow Traveller there! I have not seen her posting recently??

I forget what it is called (maybe it has been reviewed here?) but someone will no doubt know.

The Victoria Easy hotel has got to be better than the Lexham Gardens one. The reviews on the web are not complimentary for that one. Eek

Thanks, but I checked easyhotels and they did not have a family room. I wish they did.. the rate is amazing! I ended up booking a family room and a double at the The Elizabeth Hotel. The location looks good, but the price is a bit higher than I would like to spend. Oh well...

l&w, due to rules, I cannot say the hotel name, nor post about it. EasyHotel's prices are good as long as you book far in advance, just like with EasyJet. I believe they have only double beds. As for the Elizabeth, it's about a block and a half from me, and I don't know anything about it except it is on the high side. That's the one hotel around here that I don't know anything about! You should be okay there, though. As it is so close, though, I'd be very interested to hear how it was.

When is it that you'll be here?
