Hi All
I have been doing a lot of research for my up-coming 1st trip to Paris and London.
This site is so great and I have found a lot of info here. Thanks so much to all of you!

Here is my dilema We (my mother and I) will be arriving at LHR on Wednesday, September 24TH. We will depart Monday, September 29th, from Gatwick at 11:00 A.M. for our flight back to the U.S.
I would like to stay at the Vancouver Studios but I have concerns about getting to Gatwick early Monday morning.

I do know about the Gatwick Express from Victoria Station. So the question is, should we stay somewhere around Victoria station instead of Bayswater or should we book a hotel around Gatwick for our last night..or, is it really EASY to stay in Bayswater and get to Gatwick by 8:00 A.M. on a Monday Morning? I really prefer to stay in Bayswater the entire time but I don't want to be stressed out Monday morning.

Thanks for your help

I'd say it all depends on how early you are prepared to get up. I'd be inclined to grab a cab from Vancouver Studios to Victoria Station which should only take half an hour door to door, possibly less. The traffic doesn't usually get too congested between 7 and 8 am. Even if it is, the good thing about black cabs (as opposed to mini cabs) is that they are allowed to use the bus lanes which are fairly quick.

If you want to go by public transport, I'd leave an hour (from Vancouver Studios) just because you never know if you need to alter your route for one reason or another.

Thanks Beebee
I am also considering hiring a driver to transport us from the hotel to Gatwick. If we choose that option should we allow about 1.5 hours driving time?
I haven't really checked the cost of this but if it isn't too outrageous, it might be a possibility.

That sounds about right for driving out of London in the early part of the morning rush-hour, and allowing for the congestion that builds up around 8 am on the approach to the airport from the M23 motorway. However, if you have a driver he should be able to advise you based on actual experience of doing the drive.
