It's time for another UK & Ireland Photohunt!

Here are the guidelines: You select one of your own photos to post that in some way utilizes the topic. Use the topic as a concrete prompt, or find a novel approach. Each person, just one post/photo per thread topic, (or two if you must)please. Photos should be resized to be no wider than 600 pixels. Too-large photos slow down the loading of the thread, and will be deleted. Read about how to post a photo in a thread, here. If you have an idea for a photo hunt topic, contact one of the Mods to offer the suggestion.

Posting photos in the thread gives your permission for SlowTrav to eventually move the photos over to Photohunt albums in the Slow Photos site.

Today's prompt is "Stone"

You're encouraged to describe your photo--where you shot it, details of what you were doing or what was going on, etc.

A detail from the ornamental fountain in the forecourt of Edinburgh's Holyrood Palace. The fountain was commissioned by Queen Victoria, and patterned on the design of an earlier fountain at nearby Linlithgow Palace.

I was charmed by the life and energy of these two whimsical characters.

Derwent Water, near Keswick in the Lake Distric--June 2007
Various natural sculptures dotted the walk around the lake; I have another picture with the kids sitting in beautifully carved, giant hands. This was really neat, though--it's as if it cracked open to reveal the wonderful pattern within.

I there I normally frequent the Spanish section, but to day it is raining and I am having a slow day, relaxing.

This photo was taken years ago. It is of Kilve beach in Somerset. I have tweaked the photo a bit so that it looks more like a painting.

Here are some links for more information about the fossils which can be seen along this part of the coastline.

The Stones of Stenness are part of the Neolithic World Heritage Site on Scotland's northern islands of Orkney.
They are estimated to date between 3,000 and 2,000 BC.

In a previous life I was an Umbrian sunflower farmer. I want to do a past life regression and stay there.

We took a hike along the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. It rained the day before and the day after -- today was beautiful.

Brave little lady decided to brave the May elements and walk out to the edge of the Giant's Causeway.

She told me, ' Yesterday the weather was really desperate'.

Detail from the Church of St. Mary and St. David, Kilpeck, Herefordshire. Unexpectedly modern-looking carvings that actually date from the 11th century. A lovely spot, and worth a visit if you are anywhere nearby.
