It took my husband 20 minutes from plane touchdown to sitting in the car (pre--booked car service, parked in short term car park) at Heathrow Terminal 2 on Wednesday - including picking up his checked bag!
I would have hardly believed it and thought he had got his very jet lagged little brain in a muddle, only I saw the landing time on the Teletext pages and the next thing I know he is knocking on the door!
Blimey - almost made up for the 1 1/2 hours sitting on the runway in Germany waiting to take off.
This has to be some kind of record

He was in business class and the first off the plane - no heads were trodden on in an effort to get ahead of the queue ! He's usually very relaxed about getting off - hates to shuffle along to the exit, but he was ready and near the door......
It was a series of amazing luck - the plane landed and cruised straight into the gate, the door was opened really quickly, immigration was queueless, the baggage was there minutes after he got to the belt, the driver was waiting at the usual pre-arranged spot and had managed to park really close to the car park entrance...
On the plus side: it was not a full plane and it landed at 9.30pm into a quiet terminal.
He travels a lot on business and this is not his usual experience, anywhere. He did have a successful half hour transit (incoming plane delayed) a couple of weeks ago, which was a very close one - bags already checked through.
