Husband and I spent two weeks on the Grand Union canal this spring, traveling from Leighton Buzzard/Wyvern Shipping marina to London and back. Four days each way on the canal and four days in London/Little Venice. Our participation in the Canal Cavalcade was full of surprises. We joined friends in watching narrowboat competitions, experienced two wonderful narrowboat parades, saw Morris Dancers from Chingford, heard tales of the commercial days in the 1800's and the start of the Industrial Revolution, did Sunday morning mass at the Traditional Anglican Church of St Mary Magdalene on Paddington Arm of the canal, and renewed friendships with those narrowboat people we have met over our eighteen yrs on the canals. We set up narrowboat trips for Americans with three of the best hireboat companies in England. Touch base w/us for a super holiday, anywhere in England!!
