Anybody used this rental car company? I had found a great rate thru Auto Europe for three weeks for $487. I went on the American Express website and put in my dates and it came up with an even cheaper rate of $423 from Practical Car Rental. I looked at the detail on the CDW insurance and it said that if you turn this down you would need to have a copy of your insurance policy stating that you are covered for this. I thought the Amex Card would do this...any experience with this or this company? Thanks!

I have no experience with this particular company. But some lower-cost agencies make money selling CDW insurance and make it very difficult for you to avoid taking the coverage, even though your credit card may cover losses. There is generally no way that a US auto insurance policy extends to the UK, and these rental companies know this, so their offer to waive CDW is pretty meaningless.

AutoEurope is generally good, and they usually offer "full" and "basic" rentals (with and without insurance coverages). However, AutoEurope is a broker and the rental experience will only be as good or bad as the actual rental company. We had a poor exerience in Scotland with the Europcar agency.

Hmmm, that's what I was thinking...the money I save by going with Practical will be made up in CDW fee's that they will force you to pay. I think I will stick with Auto Europe for the peace of mind. Thanks for the info...
