Hello my friend and I are trying to plan a long weekend trip to England or Ireland. We would arrive early thursday morning and leave sunday afternoon.
We are trying to figure out what's best--or which location we can get the most out of.
We were leaning towards ireland but we are wondering where to go---someone mentioned Galoway ( i'm spelling that phonetically i know the spelling is wrong)
i am wondering since it is such a short amount of time--whether it's more logical to stay in Dublin---or could we pull off staying in another city in Ireland.
Sorry if this is vague---I know nothing about Ireland.
Hello and Welcome to S T! With only 3 nights I would stay in Dublin.(I'm such a Slow Traveller my long week ends are at least 5 nights! ) You can get the train out to the coast for an afternoon but if you run a search you will find lots of earlier threads about Dublin so you can be sure of having a great time.
London is the next obvious choice if you haven't been but more about that when you've made up your minds. Wendy

With only 3 nights, I'd also stay in just one city. Which one will depend a lot on how you're travelling - you'll get the most out of your trip if you stay in your arrival city rather than needing to transfer elsewhere. Dublin sounds great!
Enjoy!

For 3 days/nights I think Dublin or London would be dandy.
Dublin is a busy place with lots of activity and young people (at least 2 colleges there) and sightseeing opportunities, food, drink, and lots of charm. London, of course, is a much bigger city with more of everything but for 3 days/nights I think Dublin wold be great.
