Doing some research on places for my husband and me to stay for 5 or 6 nights in London. We're "smart" shoppers - we've far outgrown the youth hostel, but we're not yet at the 5-star hotel. We'd like to avoid long rides on the tube and stay in the midst of the city. We're primarily looking at places in Soho or Covent Garden.
Has anyone stayed at these locations? Or do you have other recommendationsin the areas? Morgan Hotel Premier Inn Aaron House Hotel Royal Adelphi Hotel
Premier Inns are usually a good bet. Generally I have found them clean, comfortable and the food is usually well prepared and presented but not exactly haute cuisine.
For 5 or 6 nights you could consider an apartment in London. Save some money on meals and have more space. Look at the reviews elsewhere on Slow Travel

Marianne is right. Check out Slow Travel's Vacation Rental Reviews - you may find something very nice for the amount of time you will be in London. Good luck!
I actually booked 5 nights at the Arran House hotel (web site is at http://www.london-hotel.co.uk/ ) for 50 pounds a night after researching many low-cost places - it received some great reviews. I called them directly and was disappointed to learn that they can't promise a specific room location (like facing away from the street) but they are in a great location in Bloomsbury not far from the British Museum and across from a giant Waterstone bookstore. I will be there in September but am glad I booked now because half the places I contacted were already full. Tracy
